Alyaksandr Yurevich
Alyaksandr Uladzimiravich Yurevich ( Belarusian: Аляксандр Юрэвіч; born 8 August 1979, in Lida) is a former Belarusian footballer. He last played for Shakhtyor Soligorsk and has appeared for the Belarus national football team, including qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He is a defender, preferably left back. He has formerly played for FC BATE Borisov, where he served as vice-captain of the team. Lida ( be, Лі́да ; russian: Ли́да ; lt, Lyda; lv, Ļida; pl, Lida ; yi, לידע, Lyde) is a city 168 km (104 mi) west of Minsk in western Belarus in Grodno Region. Etymology The name ''Lida'' arises from its Lithuanian name ''Lyda'', which derives from ''lydimas'', meaning "slash-and-burn" agricultural method or a plot of land prepared in this way. BATE Borisov are the defending champions, having won their 9th league title the previous year. Format change Starting with this season, the league will be played in two phases. The first phase will consist of a regular double-round robin tournament between 12 teams. BATE Borisov were the defending champions, having won their 8th league title last year. Teams Dnepr Mogilev were relegated to the Belarusian First League after finishing the 2011 season in last place, leaving the league for the first time since the competition's establishment in 1992. Teams Partizan Minsk were relegated to the Belarusian First League after finishing the 2010 season in last place, ending a seven-year tenure in the league.
