Aly Monroe
Aly Monroe is a British writer of historical thrillers set in the 1940s. She was brought up in Purley, England. She has spent a large part of her life in Spain, where she worked as a teacher, translator and voice-over artist. She is the author of the Peter Cotton series of historical novels, including ''Icelight'' which won the 2012 Ellis Peters Historical Award. Bibliography Monroe's series character is Peter Cotton who works for the British intelligence service. Her first novel, ''The Maze of Cadiz'', is set in Spain, where Monroe lived for many years. Purley, London
Purley is an area of the London Borough of Croydon in London, England, south of Charing Cross, with a history going back at least 800 years. It was originally granted as an estate from holdings at Sanderstead and until as a district of Surrey and then, with neighbouring Coulsdon, as an urban district that became an electoral ward of the London Borough of Croydon, becoming part of the ceremonial county of London, in 1965. The Crime Writers' Association (CWA) is a specialist authors’ organisation in the United Kingdom, most notable for its Dagger awards for the best crime writing of the year, and the Diamond Dagger awarded to an author for lifetime achievement.
