Eduard Devrient
(Philipp) Eduard Devrient (11 August 18014 October 1877) was a German baritone, librettist, playwright, actor, theatre director, and theatre reformer and historian. Devrient came from a theatrical family. His uncle was Ludwig Devrient and his brother Karl was the first husband of Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient. He was born and studied in Berlin and performed in a number of German opera houses between 1819 and 1834, when he lost his singing voice and turned his attention to writing and acting. From 1844-6 he worked in Dresden as actor/director, and he directed the Hoftheater in Karlsruhe from 1852 until his retirement in 1870. As a singer, he performed in works by Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven and Weber, among others, and sang in the première of Marschner's '' Hans Heiling'' (in the title-role; Devrient also wrote its libretto). Albert Joseph "Al" Krieger (November 4, 1923 – May 14, 2020) was an American criminal defense lawyer, most prominently for figures in organized crime and drug trafficking, as well as for a number of Oglala Lakota activists during criminal proceedings following the Wounded Knee Occupation. Friedrich von Weech (16 October 1837 – 17 November 1905) was a German historian and archivist. Biography Friedrich Otto Aristides von Weech was born in Munich. By this time his father, the army officer Friedrich Joseph von Weech (1794-1837), had died in Athens during the summer, while serving in the army of young King Otto. Sophie Caroline Pataky, real name Stipek (5 April 1860 – 24 January 1915) was an Austrian bibliographer. With her two-volume ''Lexikon deutscher Frauen der Feder'' (Dictionary of German Women of the Pen), the first German-language encyclopaedia of women writers edited by a woman was published in 1898.
