Always (1989 Film)
''Always'' is a 1989 American romantic fantasy drama film directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, Brad Johnson and Audrey Hepburn in her final film role. ''Always'' is a remake of the 1943 romantic drama ''A Guy Named Joe'' set during World War II. The main departure from the 1943 film is the changing of the setting from wartime to a modern aerial firefighting operation. The film, however, follows the same basic plot line: the spirit of a recently dead expert pilot mentors a newer pilot, while watching him fall in love with the girlfriend he left behind. The names of the four principal characters of the earlier film are all the same, with the exception of the Ted Randall character, who is called Ted Baker in the remake, and Pete's last name is Sandich instead of Sandidge. The film was released by Universal Pictures in the United States on December 22, 1989, the same day as ''Tango & Cash''. Both films were the last to be rele ... Always (Irving Berlin Song)
"Always" is a popular song written by Irving Berlin in 1925, as a wedding gift for his wife Ellin Mackay, whom he married in 1926, and to whom he presented the substantial royalties. Although legend (and Groucho Marx) claims Berlin wrote the song "Always" for ''The Cocoanuts'', he never meant for the song to be included in that musical, and it was not. Thematically, it serves as a sequel to Berlin's earlier song "When I Lost You," which pertained to the death of his first wife Dorothy. The song entered into the public domain on January 1, 2021. The song is an important plot element in Noël Coward's play '' Blithe Spirit''. It also features in the 1944 film ''Christmas Holiday'', in which it is sung by Deanna Durbin Edna Mae Durbin (December 4, 1921 – April 17, 2013), known professionally as Deanna Durbin, was a Canadian-born actress and singer, who moved to the USA with her family in infancy. "Always" is a song by American rock band Blink-182, released on November 2, 2004 as the fourth and final single from the group's self-titled fifth studio album. The song was the lowest charting single from the album, but the song's music video received extensive play on music video channels. The song can also be found on the band's 2005 compilation ''Greatest Hits''. Background All three of the band members associated the song with the music of the 1980s. Tom DeLonge, in an interview with MTV News, described the song as a "love song." In another interview with MTV News, DeLonge explained the song and addressed the lyrics of the choruses, jokingly: Composition "Always" was written by bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker, and guitarist Tom DeLonge, while sung by DeLonge and Hoppus and produced by Jerry Finn.
