Alvin Levin (1914–1981) was an American writer from Paterson, New Jersey who grew up in the Bronx The Bronx () is a borough of New York City, coextensive with Bronx County, in the state of New York. He is best known for the celebrated unfinished novel, ''Love is Like Park Avenue'', that he began writing in 1936. New Directions Publishing Corp. is an independent book publishing company that was founded in 1936 by James Laughlin and incorporated in 1964. Its offices are located at 80 Eighth Avenue in New York City. History New Directions was born in 1936 of Ezra Pound's advice to the young James Laughlin, then a Harvard University sophomore, to "do something useful" after finishing his studies at Harvard.
