Alvand Hamedan
Alvand Hamedan F.C. (Former name Pas Novin Hamedan F.C.) is an Iranian football club based in Hamedan, Iran. They currently compete in the 2013–14 Azadegan League. After getting promoted to the Azadegan League, the team changed its name to Alvand Hamedan. In 2014 Alvand were relegated to the 2nd Division, after finishing 12th in the Azadegan League Group A. History Alvand Hamedan Sports Club was founded in 1970, but after a few years the club disappeared. In 2000 Shahrdari Hamedan Athletic and Cultural Club was established and was one of the leaders in the growth of football in Hamedan. After 10 years the club was dissolved and its licence in the 2nd Division was sold to Pas Novin, the reserve team of Pas Hamedan. After the team's name was changed to Alvand Hamedan, the team was allowed to participate in the Azadegan League. In 2014 Alvand was relegated back to the 2nd Division. Qods Stadium is a football stadium in Hamedan, Iran. It is currently used mostly for football matches, on club level by PAS Hamedan F.C. and Alvand Hamedan F.C. Hamedan
Hamadan () or Hamedan ( fa, همدان, ''Hamedān'') (Old Persian: Haŋgmetana, Ecbatana) is the capital city of Hamadan Province of Iran. At the 2019 census, its population was 783,300 in 230,775 families. The majority of people living in Hamadan identify as ethnic Persians. Hamedan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities. It is possible that it was occupied by the Assyrians in 1100 BCE; the Ancient Greek historian, Herodotus, states that it was the capital of the Medes, around 700 BCE. Hamedan has a green mountainous area in the foothills of the 3,574-meter Alvand Mountain, in the midwest part of Iran. The city is 1,850 meters above sea level. Iran Football's 2nd Division
Iranian football's 2nd division ( fa, ليگ دسته دوم ایران) is the third-highest football division overall in the Iranian football league system. Before 2001, the 2nd division league was the second-highest division in Iranian football league system, however, this was changed to third-highest division when Iran's football structure officially became professional. The league consists of two, fourteen team groups who play each other twice in a home and away format. The first and second placed teams in each group are automatically promoted to the Azadegan League. The bottom two teams in both groups are automatically relegated to the 3rd division. If teams in the promotion or relegation spots are tied in terms of points, a home and away series will be played. The team with the best aggregate score will either avoid relegation or win promotion. Azadegan League
The Azadegan League ( fa, ليگ آزادگان, ''Lig-e Âzâdegân''), also known as League 1 ( fa, لیگ یک, ''Lig-e Yek''), is the second highest division of professional football in Iran. It was the top-level football league in Iran from its foundation in 1991 until 2001, when the Persian Gulf Pro League was established. Each year, the top finishing teams in the Azadegan League are promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to League 2. Since 2016, the league comprises 18 teams. The winner and the runner-up of the Azadegan League are automatically promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League. Hazfi Cup (Jām-e Hazfi; ) is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation. The Iranian football league was not held during the 1980s, hence the winner of Hazfi Cup represented Iran in the Asian Club Championship. After the revive of the league system, the champion of Iranian league qualified for Asian Club Championship and the winner of Hazfi Cup ran for Asian Cup Winners' Cup. However, the Asian Cup Winners' Cup merged with the Asian Champions Cup in 2002–03 to form the AFC Champions League and Iran had been initially given two (and later four) slots in this competitions. The 2012–13 Azadegan League was the 22nd season of the Azadegan League and 12th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season featured 19 teams from the 2011–12 Azadegan League, three new teams relegated from the 2011–12 Persian Gulf Cup: Shahin Bushehr, Shahrdari Tabriz and Mes Sarcheshmeh and four new teams promoted from the 2011–12 2nd Division: Esteghlal Ahvaz as champions, Gostaresh Foulad and Hafari Ahvaz.
