Dublin Institute Of Technology
Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT, ga, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath) was a major third-level institution in Dublin, Ireland. On 1 January 2019 DIT was dissolved and its functions were transferred to the Technological University Dublin, as TU Dublin City Campus. The institution began with the establishment of the first technical education institution in Ireland, in 1887, and progressed through various legal and governance models, culminating in autonomy under a statute of 1992. DIT was recognised particularly for degree programmes in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, Science, Marketing, Hospitality, Music, Optometry, Pharmaceuticals, Construction, Digital Media and Journalism. Arthur Mathews (writer)
Arthur Mathews (born 30 April 1959) is an Irish comedy writer and actor who, often with writing partners such as Graham Linehan, Paul Woodfull and Matt Berry, has either written or contributed to television comedies, such as ''Father Ted, Big Train,'' and ''Toast of London'' and ''Harry Enfield and Chums''. Early life Mathews attended Castleknock College, a private school run by Vincentian priests. He then graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a degree in graphic design. He played drums in spoof U2 tribute act "The Joshua Trio" with Paul Woodfull, with whom he would later work on ''I, Keano''. He worked as art editor for Hot Press, leaving in 1991 to move to London. Writing career Television Mathews has contributed to many sketch shows, including ''Harry Enfield and Chums'', '' The All New Alexei Sayle Show'' and the ''Ted & Ralph'' segments of ''The Fast Show''. National Asset Management Agency
The National Asset Management Agency (NAMA; ga, Gníomhaireacht Náisiúnta um Bhainistíocht Sócmhainní) is a body created by the government of Ireland in late 2009 in response to the Irish financial crisis and the deflation of the Irish property bubble. NAMA functions as a ''bad bank'', acquiring property development loans from Irish banks in return for government purple debts bonds, ostensibly with a view to improving the availability of credit in the Irish economy. The original book value of these loans was €77 billion (comprising €68bn for the original loans and €9bn rolled up interest), and the original asset values to which the loans related was €88bn, with there being an average Loan To Value of 77% and the current market value is estimated at €47 billion. Bobby Kerr is an Irish entrepreneur and businessman. He was the chairman of Insomnia Coffee Company. In 2009, he was a "dragon" on the Irish version of ''Dragons' Den'', produced by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Career Kerr's first job was in 1981 as chef/trainee manager in AIB Catering Ballsbridge. For two years he worked at the North Sea oil rigs, before working for Versa Food Services in Canada in 1984. While in Canada, Kerr held Assistant Catering Manager positions in the CNE Stadium Toronto, Ottawa Civic Centre, Crystal Beach Park and African Lion Safari and coordinated the catering for Pope John Paul II's visit to Canada in 1985 for one million people. Martin Shanahan (born 1973) is a former Irish public servant, CEO of inward investment agency IDA Ireland from 2014 to 2022, now a partner at Grant Thornton Ireland. During his 8 years heading the IDA, which encompassed Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic and a major change to US corporate taxation policy, multinational presence in Ireland grew by a significant percentage, and employment in that sector grew from around 160,000 to over 300,000. Ronan Moore is a politician and school teacher, and the author of a number of books with a focus on quirks of Irish culture. Personal life Moore was born in, and his family comes from, Trim, County Meath. As of 2015, he lives with his wife Frances Haworth, and three children. Fergal O'Byrne
Fergal O'Byrne is a writer from Dublin, Ireland who now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. Two of his stage plays have won awards at Listowel Writers' Week. Career Before turning to writing full-time, O'Byrne was CEO of the Irish Internet Association and was listed by that organisation in its "IIA Internet Hall of Fame". After moving to Copenhagen, he met artistic director Ian Burns, who agreed to stage a trilogy of plays by O'Byrne. The first play, ''Extremophiles'', had its premiere in October 2020 in the Krudttønden Theatre, Copenhagen. Jimmy Murphy (playwright)
Jimmy Murphy is an Irish playwright living in Dublin. He is a former writer in residence at NUI Maynooth (2000–01), a member of the Abbey Theatre’s Honorary Advisory Council, a recipient of three Bursaries in literature from the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíona and was elected a member of Aosdána in 2004.
