Altunizade
Altunizade is a neighborhood of the municipality of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey. It is located on the Asian side of the city. The location takes its name from Altunizade İsmail Zühtü Pasha (1806–1887), a wealthy civil servant in the Ottoman Empire, who established the settlement in an utmost area on the Anatolian part of Istanbul in the 19th century. "Altunizade" means gold trader in the Ottoman Turkish language. Education Following universities maintain campuses in Altunizade: Istanbul 29 Mayıs University, Istanbul Şehir University, Istanbul Medeniyet University, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, and Üsküdar University. Altunizade Mosque
Altunizade Mosque ( tr, Altunizade Camii), also known as İsmail Zühtü Pasha Mosque ( tr, İsmail Zühtü Paşa Camii) is a 19th-century Ottoman mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey. The mosque is situated in the Altunizade neighborhood of Üsküdar district in Istanbul. It was commissioned by Altunizade İsmail Zühtü Pasha (1806–1887), who is buried in a protected place in the mosque's yard. The mosque was built in 1865. It is probably the last example of Ottoman architecture mosques in the Anatolian part of Istanbul. Initially, the mosque was part of a social complex ( tr, külliye) consisting of an infant school, a Turkish bath, a time-keeping office for prayer, a fountain, lodgings for the imam, the worship leader, and the muezzin, the caller of prayer, a bakery and some shops. Üsküdar
Üsküdar () is a large and densely populated district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the Anatolian shore of the Bosphorus. It is bordered to the north by Beykoz, to the east by Ümraniye, to the southeast by Ataşehir and to the south by Kadıköy; with Beşiktaş, Karaköy, Kabataş, Beşiktaş, and the historic city center of Fatih facing it on the opposite shore to the west. Istanbul Şehir University
Istanbul Şehir University ( tr, İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi, literally City University of Istanbul) was a private, non-profit university located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was established in 2008 by the Bilim ve Sanat Vakfı (BiSaV or BSV, en, Foundation for Science and Arts). The university started its education in the academic year of 2010–11 at its campus in Altunizade, Üsküdar, following a ceremony held on October 5, 2010 that was attended by then State President Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoğlu. M5 (Istanbul Metro)
Line M5, officially referred to as the M5 Üsküdar–Çekmeköy line ( tr, M5 Üsküdar–Çekmeköy metro hattı), is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro System. It is the second rapid transit line on the Asian side of İstanbul, the other in service since August 2012, the M4. Furthermore, it is the first driverless rapid transit line in Turkey. Capitol Shopping Centre ( tr, Capitol Alışveriş Merkezi), opened in 1993 in Altunizade neighbourhood of Üsküdar, is the first modern big shopping mall on the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey. Built on 6 floors and covering an area of 73,000 m², the shopping complex houses 157 retail stores, a department store and an MMM Migros supermarket, 8 movie theaters, fast food restaurants, cafeterias, bowling alley and entertainment center. It houses also Capitol Radio, a private radio station broadcasting from the complex. It has an open air and covered parking lot. Metrobus (Istanbul)
The Metrobus ( tr, Metrobüs) is a bus rapid transit route in Istanbul, Turkey. The system has 45 stations that follow the city's ring road via Avcılar, Zincirlikuyu and the Bosphorus Bridge to Söğütlüçeşme using dedicated bus lanes for almost the entire length the route. The busway, the first section of which opened in 2007 after two years of construction, is used by a number of Metrobus lines which operate within a ‘closed’ system carrying 1 million people daily. Turkish authorities have since assisted with the development of a similar system in Lahore, Pakistan, which opened in 2013.
