Mina Anna Maria Mazzini (born 25 March 1940) or Mina Anna Quaini (for the Swiss civil registry), known mononymously as Mina, is an Italian-Swiss singer and actress. She was a staple of television variety shows and a dominant figure in Italian pop music from the 1960s to the mid-1970s, known for her three-octave vocal range, the agility of her soprano voice, and her image as an Feminism, emancipated woman. ''Musica e dischi'' was the oldest and long-running music industry publication in Italy. '' Billboard'' defined the publication as the "Italian record bible". History It was founded in October 1945 in Milan, Italy, on the initiative of the journalist and musicologist Aldo Mario De Luigi, a former record executive at La Voce Del Padrone-Columbia-Marconiphone (VCM, now EMI Italy). Originally, the magazine was published under the name ''Musica'' (''Dischi'' was added on the second edition) on a monthly basis. In the 1960s, ''Musica e dischi'' started to issue a list of best-seller music recordings nationally. Biography Nuccio Rinaldis is best known in Italian pop music business for being lead sound engineer of Italian singer Mina (Italian singer), Mina for several years. Rinaldis's work can be traced in almost the singer's complete discography, both albums and singles from 1967 onwards, with the many hits he was involved in, first at Carlo Alberto Rossi's Fonorama Studio and later, for more than 10 years since the founding of PDU (record label), PDU, at the La Basilica Studio in Milan, owned by Mina herself. It should be mentioned that it was thanks to the test recording proposed by Rinaldis, that the record ''Mina Live '78'' was made and released as a double album. It constitutes the only audio record of Mina's last public concert. Fausto Cigliano
Fausto Cigliano (15 February 1937 – 17 February 2022) was an Italian singer, guitarist, and actor. Life and career Born in Naples into a humble family, Cigliano approached the music at young age, after having received a guitar as a gift, and he made his record debut in 1953. Cigliano became first known thanks to his participation to the Napoli Music Festival, that he later won in 1959, in couple with Teddy Reno with the song "Sarrà... chi sà". In 1957 he ranked first at the Italian hit parade with the single "Che m'ha 'mparato a fa'". Between 1959 and 1964 he was entered into the main competition at the Sanremo Music Festival five times. In the second half of the 1950s he also appeared in several comedy films. In 1976, Cigliano graduated in guitar at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. Bruno Canfora
Bruno Canfora (; 6 November 1924 – 4 August 2017) was an Italian composer, conductor, and music arranger. Life and career Born in Milan, Canfora studied piano at an early age, then studied oboe at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. During the Second World War, he played several concerts with his group in Trieste. After the war, he moved to Turin and became conductor of the Castellino Danze Orchestra. Besides having composed scores for television programs and films, Canfora is known for his work in pop music, particularly for his collaboration with Mina, for whom he composed songs like ''Brava'', ''Un bacio è troppo poco'', ''Mi sei scoppiato dentro il cuore'', ''Sono come tu mi vuoi'' and ''Vorrei che fosse amore'' (the latter two were also translated into other languages like Spanish, the latter also in French). Bruno Lauzi (; 8 August 1937 – 24 October 2006) was an Italian singer-songwriter, poet and writer. Biography Bruno Lauzi was born in Asmara, then part of the Italian Eastern Africa, to a Catholic father, Francesco Lauzi and a Jewish mother, Laura Nahum. In the 1960s he moved to Genoa, where he became part of the local music scene and met Gino Paoli, Luigi Tenco and Fabrizio De André. After a spell as song writer for Mia Martini, Georges Moustaki and Ornella Vanoni, Lauzi established himself as a renowned ''cantautore'' (singer-songwriter). His biggest hits include "Ritornerai" (1963), "Amore caro amore bello" (1972),"Onda su onda" (1974), "Genova per noi" (1975). In the 1980s he started a political career with the Italian Liberal Party, but without huge success. Suffering from Parkinson disease, he died in Peschiera Borromeo at age 69 from liver cancer.
