Altes Brauhaus Dudeldorf
The Old Brauhaus is a listed building of civil architecture in the Lord alley of Dudeldorf, a local church in the district of Bitburg-Prüm. In the three-storey ensemble is the one built in 1700 to a corner building with mansard roof. In the mid-18th century it was rebuilt and probably also enlarged. A biaxial construction erected on Church Street, probably in the middle of the 18th century, completes the house ensemble. History The house was close to the Burg Dudeldorf and built in the immediate vicinity of the church. 1794 the landowner Jacob Goh was mentioned as a host and guest holder documented. To date, the name "Gohs" is commonly referred to as House name in the vernacular. In 1806 the Rotgerber Robert Munich married Anna Caroline Gohs, the daughter of the host. Dudeldorf
Dudeldorf is a village municipality in the district of Bitburg-Prüm, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located about 10 km (6 miles) east of Bitburg, 42 km (26 miles) north of Trier, and 32 km (20 miles) east of the Luxembourg border. It has a population of around 1300, including 220 US Defense personnel. The village was heavily damaged during World War II but has since been completely rebuilt. Dudeldorf Castle is the main attraction in the village. Originally consisting of two castles built in the 12th century, it has since been rebuilt many times. It now serves as a function and community center. The surrounding countryside also makes Dudeldorf a popular holiday destination for tourists. Mansard Roof
A mansard or mansard roof (also called a French roof or curb roof) is a four-sided gambrel-style hip roof characterised by two slopes on each of its sides, with the lower slope, punctured by dormer windows, at a steeper angle than the upper. The steep roof with windows creates an additional floor of habitable space (a garret), and reduces the overall height of the roof for a given number of habitable storeys. The upper slope of the roof may not be visible from street level when viewed from close proximity to the building. The earliest known example of a mansard roof is credited to Pierre Lescot on part of the Louvre built around 1550. Burg Dudeldorf
Dudeldorf Castle (german: Burg Dudeldorf) is the most important monument in the parish of Dudeldorf in the district of Bitburg-Prüm in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The castle is in the northwest corner of the former village walls of Dudeldorf. It was built in 1345 and restored 1451–53. History The original Dudeldorf Castle was built in the 12th century, although the exact date is not known. A lord of Dudeldorf is recorded in 1052. In the 14th century this aristocratic family became extinct. The castle occupies the northern part of the village walls which also form the curtain walls of the castle. The overall site consists of the medieval tower house, which was converted into a school in the 19th century, the double-winged manor house, added in the 18th century, the courtyard with its archway and the garden and pavilion. Bitburger Brewery (Bitburger Brauerei Th. Simon GmbH) is a large German brewery headquartered in Bitburg, Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded in 1817 by Johann Wallenborn, its beer is the third best-selling beer in Germany, and the nation's number one draft beer (Deutschlands Fassbiermarke Nr. 1). It had sales of in 2015.
