Alterno
VV Alterno is a Dutch volleyball club based in Apeldoorn. It has professional and amateur teams (men, women, youth and sitting volleyball) with the women's team being the most successful and currently playing in the Eredivisie Dames, the highest level in the Netherlands. 2014–15 CEV Women's Challenge Cup
The 2014–15 CEV Women's Challenge Cup was the 35th edition of the European Challenge Cup volleyball club tournament, the former "CEV Cup". Format The tournament was played on a knockout format, originally a total of 51 teams were to participate, due to withdraws a total of 49 teams participated. Initially 35 teams were allocated vacancies to enter the competition at the 'Qualification phase', with another 14 teams (after 2 teams withdraw) joining from the Women's CEV Cup entering the competition at the 'Main phase' stage (as per 'Round composition' below). On 12 June 2014, a drawing of lots in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, determined the team's pairing for each match. Each team played a home and an away match with result points awarded for each leg (3 points for 3–0 or 3–1 wins, 2 points for 3–2 win, 1 point for 2–3 loss). The Netherlands Women's Volleyball Eredevisie is the major volleyball competition, disputed in the Netherlands since 1947. It is organized by the Dutch Volleyball Federation (Nederlandse Volleybalbond, Nevobo) . Competition formula The 2021/22 League A championship consisted of a preliminary stage and a playoff. At the preliminary stage, the participating teams plays in a regular home and away tournament. The top 8 advanced to the playoffs. 13 teams played in League A in 2021/22: Talenttim-Papendal (Arnhem), Slieedrecht Sport (Sliedrecht), Apollo 8 ( Borne), Regio-Zwolle (Zwolle), Sneek, Boleans (Utrecht), Laudamme (Capelle aan den IJssel), Pelpus (Meyel), Draisma-Dynamo (Apeldoorn), ARBO (Rotterdam), Airsped-Twente (Almelo), Voltena (Werkendam), Lammerink-Set-Ap'65 (Otmarsum). CEV Women's Challenge Cup
The CEV Women's Challenge Cup, formerly (from 1980 to 2007) known as CEV Women's Cup is the third official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe and takes place every year. It is organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and was created as in 1980 to allow more clubs to participate in European competitions. In 2007 it was renamed following a CEV decision to rename its second official competition (known as Top Teams Cup) to CEV Cup. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court.
