Altergaz was the first French independent natural gas company in France, based in Paris and founded by Taoufik Tahar, Robert Delbos and Jean-Paul George in 2003. In 2012, Eni, the Italian Oil & Gas multinational acquired Altergaz. History Altergaz was initially founded in 2003 by Taoufik Tahar and two former senior executive of French energy sectors: Robert Delbos and Jean-Paul George. Taoufik Tahar was the founder and CEO of Easyloan first credit broker in France. Jean-Paul George
Jean-Paul George (born March 22, 1944) is a French Chairman and CEO of the energy sector. He is known as co-founder and Chairman of Altergaz, the first French independent natural gas company, created in 2003. Early life Jean-Paul George graduated from École Polytechnique (1964) and CentraleSupélec (1967-69). Career Jean-Paul George entered in EDF-GDF group in the 70's, he was sales manager of Gaz de France and he is known as founder of the first Gaz de France's subsidiary: Cofathec, today renamed ENGIE Cofely (€2,2bn of turnover in 2018). He was CEO of Cofathec group from 1994 to 2000 before being appointed Delegate-General of Gaz de France's e-company. Robert Delbos (born January 10, 1943) is a French Chairman and CEO within the energy sector. He is known as co-founder and CEO of Altergaz, the first French independent natural gas company in 2003. Early life In 1967 Delbos graduated in Finance from French business school HEC Paris (The École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris). Career Delbos entered in EDF-GDF group in 1969 and worked in Treasury department before becoming Chief of Treasury in 1987. Delbos managed, in collaboration with Jean-Michel Carboni, his successor as Treasurer of the group, the "second biggest Swaps portfolio right after the World Bank" and "at that time, GDF was considered as pioneer in raising funds". Tawfik ( ar, توفيق), or Tewfik, is an Arabic masculine given name. The name is derived from the Arabic root: waaw-faa-qaaf (), which means to agree or to reconcile. Levallois-Perret () is a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department and Île-de-France region of north-central France.
