''Already Famous'' (Chinese:''一泡而红'': ''Yi Pao Er Hong'') is a 2011 Singaporean comedy film and the feature film directorial debut of Michelle Chong, who also starred in the film alongside Taiwanese idol Alien Huang. The movie was released on 1 December 2011 in Singapore and was selected as the Singaporean entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards 2013. ''Already Famous'' was well received in Singapore, where it grossed S$1.04 million and viewer demand for the film grew so high that movie theaters had to double the number of screens showing the film. Michelle Chong
Michelle Chong (, born 22 April 1977) is a Singaporean film, TV and digital content producer and director, writer and actress. She left the National Broadcaster Mediacorp in 2011 to set up her own media agency Left Profile and production house Huat Films. She has produced, written and directed 3 commercial movie, the first of which, ''Already Famous'', was chosen as Singapore’s entry for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards in 2013. Chua En Lai (born 25 November 1979) is a Singaporean actor, comedian and host, best known for his work on the Mediacorp Channel 5 sitcom '' The Noose''. He left Mediacorp due to his contract expiry. Singapore has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film on a fairly regular basis since 2005, although they submitted a film while still being a British colony in 1959. This is a list of submissions to the 85th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films.
