Alpine Unity
Alpine Unity was a three night New Year festival in New Zealand. The first event took place in 2001 with two subsequent events taking place at Flock Hill, a high country station in the South Island. The largest event in 2002 had approximately 5000 attendees. It was run as a limited liability company co-owned by Pacific Island Entertainment Ltd. and Middle Earth Productions Ltd., until two of the Directors of the company and the festival were implicated in a drug bust in 2003. Following the bust, the party was taken over by New Zealand Entertainment Service Ltd. and rebranded 'Alpine'. It carried on under the new name, eventually being superseded by Rhythm and Alps, which was created by the organisers of the Rhythm and Vines New Year festival in the North Island. Timo Maas
Timo Maas (born July 27, 1969, Bückeburg, West Germany) is a German DJ/ producer and remixer whose career in electronic music spans well over 30 years. His remix of Azzido Da Bass's single "Dooms Night" helped launch his career in 2000. In its wake, he also released ''Music for the Maases Volume 1'', a mix album consisting of many of his previous tracks and remixes. After another mix album called ''Connected'' for Paul Oakenfold's imprint Perfecto, Maas released his own debut studio album ''Loud'' in 2002. The album was produced by German dance music producer Martin Buttrich (also known for his work with Loco Dice), and featured guest appearances from Kelis, Neneh Cherry and Placebo's Brian Molko. Natalia Sheppard ( ''née'' Scott, born in 1976), better known by her stage names MC Tali and Tali, is a New Zealand drum and bass artist, best known for her 2004 hit "Lyric on My Lip", which reached #39 in the UK Singles Chart. Tali has also worked with prominent artists, such as former Mercury Music Prize nominee Roni Size. Tali prefers to use the name "Tali" when singing and songwriting acoustically or live, preferring to use 'MC" whenever she collaborates with electronic music artists, sometimes using the former. Pitch Black is a New Zealand electronica duo from Christchurch. History Mike and Paddy met in 1996. Since then they have released five albums, four remix albums and been on six world tours. Fat Freddy's Drop
Fat Freddy's Drop is a New Zealand seven-piece band from Wellington, whose musical style has been characterised as any combination of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, and techno. Originally a jam band formed in the late 1990s by musicians from other bands in Wellington, Fat Freddy's Drop gradually became its members' sole focus. Band members continued playing with their other respective groups—The Black Seeds, TrinityRoots, Bongmaster, and others—for much of their 20-year career. He is widely recognised for his eccentric clothing and wild hair and his production of several cutting edge drum and bass tracks. Shapeshifter (sometimes referred to as New Zealand Shapeshifter) are a live drum and bass act from New Zealand. They are known for their live shows and blend of heavy soul with drum and bass.
