Lega Alpina Lumbarda (Lombard Alpine League, LAL) was a left-wing regionalist political party in Italy, based in Lombardy. The party, an alternative to Lega Lombarda–Lega Nord, was led by Elidio De Paoli throughout its existence. History The party was founded in 1992 by De Paoli, a former blue-collar worker, local leader of the Marxist-Leninist League, and municipal councillor for the Greens in Brescia. De Paoli was elected senator both in the 1992 general election (when the party won 2.1% in Lombardy) and the 1994 general election (4.3%). Umberto Bossi (born 19 September 1941) is an Italian politician and former leader of Lega Nord (Northern League), a party seeking autonomy or independence for Northern Italy or Padania. He is married to the Sicilian Manuela Marrone, and has four sons, of whom one was from his first wife. Birth and education Bossi was born in 1941 in Cassano Magnago, in the province of Varese, Lombardy. Lombard Alliance Autonomy (''Alleanza Lombarda Autonomia''), initially called Lombard Alliance (''Alleanza Lombarda''), was a regionalist political party in Italy, based in Lombardy. The party was founded in 1989 as a split from Lombard League (LL) by Angela Bossi and Pierangelo Brivio, a married couple. They were respectively sister and brother-in-law to Umberto Bossi, then national secretary of the Lombard League and later federal secretary of the Northern League. In the 1990 regional election, despite running lists only in three provincial constituencies ( Como 3.2%, Varese 2.8% and Milan 1.6%), the party won 1.2% at the regional level and elected one regional councillor, in Milan.
