Alphabutt
''Alphabutt'' is an album of children's music by Kimya Dawson, recorded in February 2007, recorded with Hidden Vagenda producer Jason Carmer. The Alphabutt sessions were completed on February 21, 2008, and the full album was released on K Records in September 2008. Nine of the ten original songs have also appeared on self-released EP entitled ''Alphabutt E.Pee'' sold on Kimya's world tour in 2007. Each copy of the EP came in a unique hand-decorated folder of colored cardboard held together by a string. The folder contained an Alphabutt CD-R, a handwritten fact sheet and nine sheets of drawings on pink paper - one for each song. The flipside of the folder reads "''made with love at the great crap factory''." Kimya Dawson (born November 17, 1972) is an American folk singer-songwriter, one half of the anti-folk duo the Moldy Peaches. Dawson's work with the Moldy Peaches earned them a cult following and critical acclaim, with their 2001 song " Anyone Else But You" landing a spot in multiple acclaimed indie film soundtracks. "Anyone Else But You" as performed by Michael Cera and Elliot Page charted on the Billboard Hot 100 after its prominent inclusion in the 2007 film ''Juno'', the soundtrack of which includes several songs by Dawson and her associated musical acts. The song remains Dawson's highest charting single to date. Bryan Kei Mantia (born February 4, 1963), known professionally as Brain, is an American rock drummer. He has played with bands such as Primus, Guns N' Roses, Praxis, and Godflesh, and with other performers such as Tom Waits, Serj Tankian, Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins, and Buckethead. Kevin Rene Cadogan (born August 14, 1970) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist. A founding member of the band Third Eye Blind, he performed with the band from 1993 to 2000. He co-wrote some of Third Eye Blind's most notable hits, including "How's It Going to Be", " Losing a Whole Year", and " Graduate", 10 of the 14 songs on their debut album ''Third Eye Blind'' as well as six of the 13 tracks on his final collaboration with the band in their second album ''Blue''. Hidden Vagenda
''Hidden Vagenda'' is the fourth solo album by American singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson, and the first to be released by K Records. The album contains songs about her pain from the deaths of loved ones, the then-upcoming 2004 election, and a power ballad version of a song from a previous solo album featuring a recording of members of The Moldy Peaches as an intro. ''Hidden Vagenda'' also includes myriad guest performers, including Daniel Johnston, Paleface, Vanessa Carlton, and members of the French anti-folk group Herman Düne. The tracks "It's Been Raining" and "Blue Like Nevermind" were recorded in France with members of Herman Düne backing Kimya, and others were recorded in the Dawson family kitchen and Olive Juice Music in New York City. History In 2004, Microsoft created an MSN Music download store to compete with Apple's iTunes Music Store, though its sales in comparison were negligible. The store utilized Microsoft's Windows Media Player application and proprietary Windows Media Format files (protected .wma files). It started out with 1.5 million songs, but decreased to 1.1 million songs due to lagging sales and lack of real support from Microsoft.
