Alpha Pup Records is an American independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Daddy Kev and Danyell Jariel in 2004. ''LA Weekly'' placed it at number 2 on the "Top 10 Most Exciting L.A. Indie Labels of 2010" list. History BBC One DJ Mary Anne Hobbs has supported Alpha Pup Records from its inception and comments that "the artists involved with Low End Theory, with the Brainfeeder label, with Alpha Pup, with Leaving Records all have close ties with the UK". In 2014, Chris Ziegler of ''LA Weekly'' described the label as "a big part of the reason why" "Los Angeles is one of the most vital cities in the world for electronic music right now". Cyclic Defrost
''Cyclic Defrost'' is an Australian specialist electronic music magazine. It was founded and edited by Sebastian Chan, with current editors Bob Baker Fish, Chris Downton and Peter Hollo. It covers independent electronic music, avant-rock, experimental sound art and left field hip hop. History and profile The magazine started as a photocopied zine in 1998, as an offshoot of the weekly Sydney club night Frigid, run by Chan and co-editor/designer Dale Harrison. Chan and Harrison had met at university and edited the university newspaper together. Harrison, now the bass player for Sydney band The Herd, resigned after Issue 12 (October 2005) and was replaced by designer Bim Ricketson. Matthew Levinson joined Chan as editor. Astronautica
Edrina Martinez, better known by her stage name Astronautica, is an experimental electronic, indie, hip hop, and beat music producer. She is currently based in Los Angeles, California, and signed with Alpha Pup Records, an independent label co-founded by Daddy Kev of Low End Theory. Career Learning to play the guitar by ear at an early age, Astronautica soon began mixing her own samples and beats on the Akai APC 40. After early encouragement by Daedelus, the multi-instrumentalist was drawn into the professional musical community of California and soon began producing with Ableton Live. Elvin Estela (born March 14, 1977), better known by his stage name Nobody, is an American hip hop producer based in Los Angeles, California. He is a resident DJ at Low End Theory. He has collaborated with 2Mex, Abstract Rude, Freestyle Fellowship, Busdriver, and Mystic Chords of Memory. He has also been a member of Blank Blue and Bomb Zombies. Jonathan Wayne (born June 5, 1990), better known by his stage name Jonwayne, is an American rapper and record producer. Early life Jonwayne was born in La Habra, California on June 5, 1990. He is a descendant of American Revolutionary War General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, from whom actor John Wayne took his stage name. Career Jonwayne briefly worked as a stage actor after high school. Donell McGary (born October 30, 1976) known professionally as Dibiase, is an American alternative hip hop producer from Watts, Los Angeles, California. He is also a member of Project Blowed hip-hop shop. Career Dibiase released his debut album, '' Machines Hate Me'', on Alpha Pup Records in 2010. Pitchfork Media gave it 5.8 out of 10, while Resident Advisor gave it 4 out of 5. Before doing music, he made a living as a graphic artist. Free the Robots (born Christopher Mark Alfaro) is an underground hip hop producer from Los Angeles, California. Style Free the Robots pulls together jazz, dubstep, psychedelic music, electronic music and hip hop. History Free the Robots started as a side project by Chris Alfaro in 2003, while he was also playing with different bands, DJing, and producing tracks for MCs using samples, controllers, and other live instruments. James McCall (born June 3, 1983), better known by his stage names Nocando and All City Jimmy, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California. He is the 2007 Scribble Jam champion and founder of Hellfyre Club. He is a member of hip hop groups such as Customer Service, Bomb Zombies, and Flash Bang Grenada.
