Alp Arslan
Alp Arslan was the second Sultan of the Seljuk Empire and great-grandson of Seljuk, the eponymous founder of the dynasty. He greatly expanded the Seljuk territory and consolidated his power, defeating rivals to the south and northwest, and his victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert, in 1071, ushered in the Turkoman settlement of Anatolia. Alparslan Arslan (born 1977 in Kiğı) is a Turkish criminal convicted for murdering Council of State (Turkey), Council of State member Mustafa Yücel Özbilgin, and wounding four others. He also took part in the bombing of the newspaper ''Cumhuriyet'' along with Osman Yıldırım, İsmail Sağır, and Erhan Timuroğlu. All of these events took place from 10–17 May 2006. Biography Arslan comes from a conservative family. He graduated from Marmara University's law school in 1998. Later on he met fellow Ergenekon suspect Sedat Peker and engaged in financial fraud. Arslan attended meetings of the Vatansever Kuvvetler Güç Birliği Hareketi (founded 2005) with Muzaffer Tekin. Alparslan Çelik (born 1982) is a Turkish Islamist-Nationalist. In 2014 he joined the Syrian Turkmen Brigades and fought against the Syrian Army. On 24 November, after Turkey shot down a Russian bomber jet, he allegedly killed the Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov. Çelik was detained in İzmir, Turkey on 31 March 2016. Alparslan Türkeş (; 25 November 1917 – 4 April 1997) was a Turkish politician, who was the founder and president of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the Grey Wolves ''(Ülkü Ocakları)''. He represented the far-right of the Turkish political spectrum. He was and still is called ''Başbuğ'' ("Leader") by his devotees.
