Aloud Albums
Aloud is an American indie rock band known for its songwriting and vocal prowess, as well as using a two lead singer approach. Founded in 2002 by Jen de la Osa (lead vocals, guitar, keys) and Henry Beguiristain (lead vocals, guitar, keys) in Boston, Massachusetts, the group is rounded out by bassist/backing vocalist Charles Murphy and drummer Chris Jago. In 2017, the band expanded its lineup to include Alanah Ntzouras Maguire on saxophone and Vanessa Acosta on trumpet. Aloud has released music under the Lemon Merchant Records label since 2006, with the exception of their fourth studio album ''It's Got To Be Now.'' Their sixth studio album ''Apollo 6'' is due to be released May 2023. Cuban Exile
A Cuban exile is a person who emigrated from Cuba in the Cuban exodus. Exiles have various differing experiences as emigrants depending on when they migrated during the exodus. Demographics Social class Cuban exiles would come from various economic backgrounds, usually reflecting the emigration wave they were a part of. Many of the Cubans who would emigrate early were from the middle and upper class, but often brought very little with them when leaving Cuba. Small Cuban communities were formed in Miami and across the United States and populated with small Cuban owned businesses. By the Freedom Flights many emigrants were middle class or blue-collar workers, due to the Cuban government's restrictions on the emigration of skilled workers. Exile (Aloud Album)
''Exile'' is the name of Aloud's third full-length studio album, after 2008's ''Fan The Fury'', and their first release since the 2009 live EP ''Live 2009''. It is the first studio album recorded by Aloud's principal members Henry Beguiristain and Jen de la Osa without Aloud's original rhythm section. Released in October 2010, ''Exile'' signaled a dramatic shift in the band's sound, opting for a drastically pared-down sound and ornate arrangements. The majority of the album was recorded by Jen de la Osa, Henry Beguiristain, and producer Daniel Nicholas Daskivich. Inspiration was drawn from the memoir of exiled Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, Before Night Falls (notably the songs "The Urgent Letter", "A Line of Lights", and "To Die at Sea") as well as Jen and Henry's respective histories as children of Cuban exiles. Live 2009 (EP)
''Fan The Fury'' is the name of Aloud's follow up to their 2006 debut full-length ''Leave Your Light On''. It is the only Aloud album containing music credited as written by all four original members of the band, as well as the last to feature bassist Roy Fontaine and drummer Ross Lohr. The album was produced by Sony mix engineer Chuck Brody. ''Fan The Fury'' was released on March 25, 2008 on Lemon Merchant Records. Album cover The cover of ''Fan The Fury'' is a plain off-white canvas with a painting of a portion of ''Deux Furies'', with one half of the image on either side of the sleeve. The image, now in the public domain, is a 19th-century reproduction of a design on an ancient vase of the Erinyes of Greek mythology. Photographs of Aloud for the inside were taken by Mick Murray. Shawn Fogel
Shawn Fogel is an American musician and singer-songwriter. Life Shawn Matthew Fogel was born on December 12, 1981, in New York State. He began learning how to play music as a young child, picking up the piano in third grade. He continued to learn various other instruments through middle and high school, after which he enrolled in Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he studied songwriting, performance, audio engineering & studio recording, and music business. During his senior year at Hampshire, Fogel used the campus facilities to record, edit, and mix his first full-length album, ''Millions of Miles Away'', all on his own. The album was released commercially in 2004. Fogel's next effort, ''One Day In The Desert - EP'', was recorded with the record label The Sleepy West and released in late 2007. The Lights Out
The Lights Out is a rock band that formed in 2005 in Boston, Massachusetts. A band not signed to a major record label, they have nevertheless been able to sustain themselves, self-releasing a string of EPs and full-length albums since 2007. Biography The band started when Rishava Green and Matt King met in the Model Café in Allston, Massachusetts, where they decided to form a band before ever playing a note together. Green had recently written and recorded eleven tracks that were later named '' Douglas Sessions '05'' with the purpose of attracting the right band members. In October 2006, Jesse James joined on drums. Adam Ritchie joined on guitar in June 2007. The Motion Sick
The Motion Sick was an indie rock band formed in Boston around 2006 known for "infectious, upbeat pop" and melancholy lyrics. The band released two full-length albums, ''Her Brilliant Fifteen'' (2006) and ''The truth will catch you, just wait...'' (2008) as well as a split 7-inch with Golden Bloom (2010) and an EP of novelty songs (2010). They sprung into notoriety after being featured as band of the month in SPIN Magazine in early 2006 and were selected as the best unsigned band in Boston by commercial radio station WFNX during the Last Band Standing competition. They also won The Boston Phoenix Best Local Band 2009 honor. Morningwood
Morningwood was an alternative rock band from New York City. Founded in 2001, it primarily consisted of Pedro Yanowitz and Chantal Claret. Morningwood was signed to Capitol Records and released two albums. Claret went solo in 2012 and folded the band. Career Morningwood's '' self-titled debut album'' was produced by Gil Norton, known for his work with Pixies, the Foo Fighters, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Singles from the album include " Nth Degree", "Jetsetter" and "New York Girls." In support of the album, the band toured with Mindless Self Indulgence, Head Automatica, Gang of Four, Kasabian, The Sounds and The FireTheft on various legs of their US tour in 2006. Allston is an officially recognized neighborhood within the City of Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was named after the American painter and poet Washington Allston.
