Aloud
Aloud is an American indie rock band known for its songwriting and vocal prowess, as well as using a two lead singer approach. Founded in 2002 by Jen de la Osa (lead vocals, guitar, keys) and Henry Beguiristain (lead vocals, guitar, keys) in Boston, Massachusetts, the group is rounded out by bassist/backing vocalist Charles Murphy and drummer Chris Jago. In 2017, the band expanded its lineup to include Alanah Ntzouras Maguire on saxophone and Vanessa Acosta on trumpet. Aloud has released music under the Lemon Merchant Records label since 2006, with the exception of their fourth studio album '' It's Got To Be Now.'' Their sixth studio album ''Apollo 6'' is due to be released May 2023. ''Fan The Fury'' is the name of Aloud's follow up to their 2006 debut full-length ''Leave Your Light On''. It is the only Aloud album containing music credited as written by all four original members of the band, as well as the last to feature bassist Roy Fontaine and drummer Ross Lohr. The album was produced by Sony mix engineer Chuck Brody. ''Fan The Fury'' was released on March 25, 2008 on Lemon Merchant Records. Album cover The cover of ''Fan The Fury'' is a plain off-white canvas with a painting of a portion of ''Deux Furies'', with one half of the image on either side of the sleeve. The image, now in the public domain, is a 19th-century reproduction of a design on an ancient vase of the Erinyes of Greek mythology. Photographs of Aloud for the inside were taken by Mick Murray. Like previous Aloud albums the sleeve was put together by Henry Beguiristain, credited as "Big Hen". Exile (Aloud Album)
''Exile'' is the name of Aloud's third full-length studio album, after 2008's ''Fan The Fury'', and their first release since the 2009 live EP ''Live 2009''. It is the first studio album recorded by Aloud's principal members Henry Beguiristain and Jen de la Osa without Aloud's original rhythm section. Released in October 2010, ''Exile'' signaled a dramatic shift in the band's sound, opting for a drastically pared-down sound and ornate arrangements. The majority of the album was recorded by Jen de la Osa, Henry Beguiristain, and producer Daniel Nicholas Daskivich. Inspiration was drawn from the memoir of exiled Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, Before Night Falls (notably the songs "The Urgent Letter", "A Line of Lights", and "To Die at Sea") as well as Jen and Henry's respective histories as children of Cuban exiles. Leave Your Light On
''Leave Your Light On'' is the name of Aloud's debut full-length album, which was released on May 2, 2006 on Lemon Merchant Records. The majority was recorded from May through August 2005 in Dayville (CDP), Connecticut, Dayville, Connecticut, with the rest being completed in Brighton, Massachusetts. It was produced by Hugh Wyman (ex-guitarist of Baby Strange and The Luxury). The album was released to college radio stations (and some commercial stations) the second week of May. National radioplay for the album peaked on the RIYL Music chart in July at #191 (out of 875). ''Leave Your Light On'' also received many favorable reviews upon its release, most notably in the Northeast United States and online music blogs. In April, a music video was released for the song "Beaches", the album's leadoff single. Another video for "Can You Hear Me Now?" was released in early March 2007. The Sooner It Comes
''The Sooner It Comes'' is the name of Aloud's six song EP released on June 12, 2004. "(Hey Now) What's It To You" b/w "Mind Relaxer" was a "double A-side" single released in February 2004 ahead of the EP's release. The two tracks were recorded at Emaginary Studios in Scituate, Massachusetts in late January. Recording continued at Courtlen Studios in February. The vast majority of ''Sooner'' was recorded live in the studio with vocals overdubbed later, giving the disc a very "raw" sound. WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble
The Rock 'n' Roll Rumble (sometimes stylized "Rock & Roll Rumble"; formerly the " WBCN Rock 'n' Roll Rumble"), begun in 1979, is a Greater Boston " battle of the bands" competition sponsored by Boston Emissions, an online local music program formerly broadcast on WBCN (from 1987 until 2008) and WZLX (from 2009 until 2018). The Rumble remains the longest running event of its kind in the US. The Laramie Project
''The Laramie Project'' is a 2000 play by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project (specifically, Leigh Fondakowski, writer-director; Stephen Belber, Greg Pierotti, Barbara Pitts, Stephen Wangh, Amanda Gronich, Sara Lambert, John McAdams, Maude Mitchell, Andy Paris, and Kelli Simpkins) about the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. Allston
Allston is an officially recognized neighborhood within the City of Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was named after the American painter and poet Washington Allston. Morningwood
Morningwood was an alternative rock band from New York City. Founded in 2001, it primarily consisted of Pedro Yanowitz and Chantal Claret. Morningwood was signed to Capitol Records and released two albums. Claret went solo in 2012 and folded the band. Career Morningwood's '' self-titled debut album'' was produced by Gil Norton, known for his work with Pixies, the Foo Fighters, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Singles from the album include " Nth Degree", "Jetsetter" and "New York Girls." In support of the album, the band toured with Mindless Self Indulgence, Head Automatica, Gang of Four, Kasabian, The Sounds and The FireTheft on various legs of their US tour in 2006.
