George Jones
George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 – April 26, 2013) was an American country musician, singer, and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best-known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last two decades of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer. Country music scholar Bill Malone writes, "For the two or three minutes consumed by a song, Jones immerses himself so completely in its lyrics, and in the mood it conveys, that the listener can scarcely avoid becoming similarly involved." Ticknor and Fields was an American publishing company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded as a bookstore in 1832, the business would publish many 19th century American authors including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry James, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry David Thoreau, and Mark Twain. Robert Valentine Braddock (born August 5, 1940) is an American country songwriter and record producer. A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Braddock has contributed numerous hit songs during more than 40 years in the industry, including 13 number-one hit singles. Early years Braddock was born in Lakeland, Florida, to a father who was a citrus grower. Braddock spent his youth in Auburndale, Florida, where he learned to play piano and saxophone. The musician toured Florida and the South with rock and roll bands in the late 1950s and early 1960s. At the age of 24, Braddock moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in country music. Roger Dale Bowling (December 3, 1944 – December 26, 1982) was an American songwriter who specialized in country music. Biography Bowling was born in Helton, Leslie County, Kentucky. As a recording artist, he placed seven singles on the '' Billboard'' country chart, all with songs he co-wrote. His highest-charting single as an artist was "Yellow Pages", which peaked at number 30 in 1981. He also performed the opening theme song "Heal It" ( Byron Hill/ Mike Reid), and the closing credits song "Friday Night Fool" (which he wrote) for the feature film ''The Exterminator'' (1980), on Embassy Pictures. Jan Crutchfield (February 26, 1938 – October 30, 2012) was an American country music singer and songwriter. He is best known for writing " Statue of a Fool", which was first recorded in 1969 by Jack Greene and was a No. 1 hit on the Hot Country Songs charts for him. Versions of the song by Brian Collins and Ricky Van Shelton also charted in the top 10. Other notable compositions written by Crutchfield include " Tear Time" by Dave & Sugar, "My Heart Is an Open Book", and several singles by Lee Greenwood, including "She's Lying", "It Turns Me Inside Out", and " Going, Going, Gone". Quonset Hut Studio was a music recording studio established in 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee by brothers Harold and Owen Bradley as Bradley's Film & Recording Studios and later operated as Columbia Studio B. The Quonset Hut was the first commercial recording studio in what would later become known as Music Row. Today the studio serves as a recording classroom for Belmont University. History In 1954, producer Owen Bradley, along with his brother Harold Bradley, purchased a house at 804 16th Avenue South in Nashville for $7500 to convert into a film and recording studio. The Bradleys tore out the first floor of the house to create recording space in the basement.
