Ernesto Almirante
Ernesto Almirante (24 September 1877 – 13 December 1964) was an Italian film and stage actor. Life and career Born in Mistretta into a family of actors, Almirante worked several years on stage along his father Nunzio. He was also active as agent and organizer of several stage companies. After an occasional film role in the 1919 mute film ''Federica d'Illirio'', starting from mid-1930s Almirante became one of the most active character actors of his time. In 1955 he retired from acting and moved into a retirement home for actors in Bologna. He was the uncle of politician Giorgio Almirante. Life and career Born in Palermo, the brother of actors Ernesto and Luigi, Almirante made his stage debut in 1891, and was mainly active on theatre, in which he worked, among others, with the Lyda Borelli, Dina Galli, Ermete Novelli, Renzo Ricci, Antonio Gandusio and Nino Besozzi companies. For about a decade he was also active in films as a character actor. He was married to the sister of actor Olinto Cristina. Giorgio Almirante
Giorgio Almirante (27 June 1914 – 22 May 1988) was an Italian politician, the founder and leader of neo-fascist Italian Social Movement until his retirement in 1987. Early life Almirante was born at Salsomaggiore Terme, in Emilia Romagna, but his parents were Molise, Molisian with Nobility, noble ancestry. His aunt was actress Italia Almirante Manzini. He spent his childhood following his parents, who worked in the theatre, in Turin and Rome. He graduated in Literature in 1937. Pre-war Fascism and role during World War II Almirante trained as a schoolteacher, but went to work writing for the Rome-based fascist paper ''Il Tevere''. He was influenced by the journalist Telesio Interlandi, who was his ideological mentor. A journalist by profession, Almirante wrote extensively for Interlandi's journal ''La Difesa della Razza'' (The defence of race).
