El Shaddai
El Shaddai ( ''ʾĒl Šadday''; ) or just Shaddai is one of the names of the God of Israel. ''El Shaddai'' is conventionally translated into English as ''God Almighty'' (''Deus Omnipotens'' in Latin, الله عز وجل Allāh 'azzawajal in Arabic), but its original meaning is unclear. The translation of ''El'' as "God" or "Lord" in the Ugaritic/ Canaanite language is straightforward, as El was the supreme god of the ancient Canaanite religion. The literal meaning of ''Shaddai'', however, is the subject of debate. The form of the phrase ''El Shaddai'' fits the pattern of the divine names in the Ancient Near East, exactly as is the case with names like El Olam", El Elyon" or El Betel". As such, ''El Shaddai'' can convey several different semantic relations between the two words, among them: the deity of a place called ''Shaddai'', a deity possessing the quality of ''shaddai'' and a deity who is also known by the name ''Shaddai''. Occurrence The name ''Shaddai'' appears 48 tim ...

Almighty Saints
The Almighty Saints is a street gang founded in the early 1960s by Polish youth at Davis Square Park in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago, but later was largely made up of Hispanics due to the change in the community's ethnic makeup. The name "Saints" was borrowed from the TV series of the same name as evidenced by the similarities between the stickman used on the show and the street gang. The Saints have maintained the same territory since the 1960s, an uncommon occurrence in Chicago, where gangs usually lose terrain over the years. By the 1980s, the gang had become extremely violent and drug trafficking became very lucrative. In a 1998 feature article, the ''Chicago Tribune'' wrote: "In a city known for its fearsome supergangs—criminal enterprises like the Latin Kings and the Gangster Disciples—the Saints stand out as an example of the street corner gang that still hangs on in many neighborhoods."Steve Mills and Diego Bunuel, "''Small Gang's Big Grip T ...

Almighty Dollar
"Almighty dollar" is an idiom often used to satirize obsession with material wealth, or with capitalism in general. The phrase implies that money is a kind of deity. History Although the phrase "almighty dollar" was not popularized until the 1900s, similar phrases had been used much earlier. For example, the British writer Ben Jonson wrote in 1616: The "dollar" version of the phrase is commonly attributed to Washington Irving, who used it in the story "The Creole Village," first published in the 1837 edition of ''The Magnolia'', a literary annual:The story was also reprinted in its entirety in the November 1836 issue of '' The Knickerbocker'' magazine within a review of ''The Magnolia''. Charles Dickens used the phrase in Chapter III, "Boston", of his ''American Notes'', published in 1842. Edward Bulwer-Lytton is often credited with coining the related phrase "pursuit of the almighty dollar", which he used in his 1871 novel ''The Coming Race''. More obscure uses of the phra ...
