Almería Western Film Festival
The Almería Western Film Festival is an annual film festival held every October in the Spain, Spanish city of Tabernas in the province of Almería. The event was created in 2011 to celebrate Almería's ongoing history as one of the Western film, Western genre's iconic shooting locations. As of 2024, the AWFF lays claim to being the only festival dedicated to the genre in Europe. It is a member of the Andalusian Association of Audiovisual Festivals (ASFAAN). History Host city Almería has been a backdrop for films of multiple genres, but it is particularly associated with Westerns, of which more than 170 had been filmed there as of 2022. Tabernas
Tabernas is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality of Almería (province), Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain, as well as the name of the principal town of the municipality. It is located on the edge of the famous Tabernas Desert, the filming location of many feature films and TV series. The three film sets in the area: Texas Hollywood, Fort Bravo, Western Leone, Mini Hollywood attract a modest number of tourists. It is the site of Moorish castle ruins, an old church, and a refurbished Teatro Municipal. Mini Hollywood
Oasys (formerly known as Mini Hollywood) is a Spanish Western-styled theme park, located off the 364 km mark of the N-340 road, near the town of Tabernas in the province of Almería, Andalusia. Originally known as Yucca City, the set was designed by Carlo Simi and built for Sergio Leone's ''For a Few Dollars More'' in 1965. It was also used as a set for other films, such as ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'' (1966). After filming of ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'' was completed, the extras in the project bought the set and ran it as a tourist attraction. They were later bought out by a hotel group. The park features daily cowboy stunt shows, such as a mock bank raid and a re-enactment of the final moments of Jesse James. It also has a swimming complex, abandoned gold mine, Cowboy style saloon, a Fun Barn for children's activities, a zoo with birds and big cats in cages and many mock western stores. Fabio Testi
Fabio Testi (born 2 August 1941) is an Italian actor. After growing up witnessing film work done around Lake Garda, Testi entered the sets of the film and began work as a stuntman and a double on set, where he worked as a stuntman on ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly''. Testi continued stunt work and getting roles in low budget genre films until he was cast in Vittorio De Sica's film '' The Garden of the Finzi-Continis''. Following this film, Testi became a star in Italy, appearing in some artistic films by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi and Claude Chabrol. Testi also continued to work in '' poliziotteschi'' genre films in the 1970s as well as a few '' gialli'', and gained infamy for his publicised relationships with actresses Ursula Andress and Charlotte Rampling. Mireia Vilapuig (born September 2, 1997 in Sabadell, Spain) is a Spanish actress.
