Almaty City Mäslihat
The Almaty City Mäslihat (, ; ) is a local unicameral legislative branch in the city of Almaty. It is led by the current secretary, Meyirjan Otynşiev ( Amanat). Composition The City Mäslihat is composed of 42 deputies, half of which are elected through party-list proportional representation and the other half of which are elected regardless of their party affiliation, through single-mandate election. A deputy of the mäslihat may be a citizen of Kazakhstan who has reached 20 years of age and can be a member of only one mäslihat. Members of the local legislature are elected every 5 years. Before the 2023 election, the Mäslihat deputies used to be elected by a 7% threshold through party-list proportional representation. If only one parties managed to bypass the electoral threshold, then the party would've won the second highest number of votes is granted enough seats for representation in the mäslihat regardless of whether it had passed the threshold or not. Amanat (political Party)
Amanat (; ; officially stylized in all caps), previously known as Nur Otan (; ), is a Ruling party, ruling List of political parties in Kazakhstan, political party of Kazakhstan and the largest political association in the country, with around 800,000 members as of 2023. 2023 Almaty City Mäslihat Election
Elections to the Almaty City Mäslihat were held on 19 March 2023 to elect 42 deputies to the 8th convocation of the Almaty City Mäslihat. It coincided with the 2023 local elections. For the first time, a mixed electoral system was used, with half of the seats filled through single-member districts and the other half through party-list proportional representation. In the party-list contest, the ruling Amanat party secured a majority, winning 12 out of 21 seats. The party also dominated the constituency seats, further consolidating its majority control. Notably, independents were elected for the first time since 2016, following the restoration of the mixed electoral system in the 2022 referendum. The Respublica Party () is a political party in Kazakhstan, which was officially registered on 18 January 2023. History The creation of the party was announced in August 2022. The party's founding congress was held on 3 December 2022. An agricultural producer, the head of the Olzha Agro company, Aidarbek Qojanazarov, became the chairman of the party. The co-chairs are entrepreneurs Syrymbek Tau, Ruslan Berdenov, Maxim Baryshev, Dinara Shukizhanova, Kuanysh Shonbai, Beibit Alibekov and Nurlan Koyanbaev. The People's Party of Kazakhstan is a Left-wing politics, left-wing Social democracy, social democratic political party in Kazakhstan, chaired by Ermūhamet Ertısbaev. The secretaries of the central committee are Turgyn Syzdyqov, Gauhar Nugmanova, Viktor Smirnov and Jambyl Ahmetbekov. Baytaq (), officially the "Baytaq" Green Party of Kazakhstan () is a green political party in Kazakhstan. The leader of the party is Azamathan Ämirtai, a member of the National Kurultai under the President. Previously he was a member of the Board of Directors of JSC National Managing Holding KazAgro and the National Council of Public Trust under the President. The Aq Jol (, ), officially the "Aq Jol" Democratic Party of Kazakhstan (, ) is a liberal-conservative political party in Kazakhstan. The Aq Jol is led by Azat Peruaşev, a deputy of the Mäjilis. The Aq Jol party was formed in early 2002, after its faction became being split from the Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan. Meyirjan Otynşiev
Meiirjan Batyrbekūly Otynşiev ( , , ; born 21 December 1987) is a Kazakh politician who is serving as the chairman and member of the Almaty City Mäslihat since March 2023. Otynşiev previously served as the Chairman of the Almaty City Branch of the ruling Amanat party from January to April 2023 and Executive Secretary of the same branch from 2022 to 2023.
