Allon (village)
Alon or Allon ( he, אַלּוֹן) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, organized as a community settlement. Alon is located to the east of Jerusalem, next to the State of Palestine, Palestinian town of 'Anata, part of whose lands were expropriated to build Alon. Situated along the edge of the Judaean Desert, Judean desert, the settlement has a diverse Orthodox Judaism, religiously observant and Secular Jewish culture, secular population. Mateh Binyamin Regional Council
Mateh Binyamin Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית מטה בנימין, ''Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Binyamin,'' Lit. Council for the Region of the Tribe of Benjamin) is a regional council governing 46 Israeli settlements and outposts in the West Bank. The council's jurisdiction is from the Jordan valley in the east to the Samarian foothills in the west, and from the Shiloh river in the north to the Jerusalem Mountains in the south. The seat of the council is Psagot. The council is named for the ancient Israelite tribe of Benjamin, whose territory roughly corresponds to that of the council. The region in which the Binyamin settlements are located is referred to as the Binyamin Region. The international community considers Israeli settlements to be illegal, but the state of Israel disputes this, and this applies to all communities under the administration of Mateh Binyamin. Nofei Prat ( he, נוֹפֵי פְּרָת, ''lit.'' Prat Scenes) is an Israeli settlement organized as a community settlement (Israel), community settlement in the West Bank. Located near Ma'ale Adumim, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2006 there were around 90 families living in the settlement. In 2009 about 140 families lived there. Amana ('Covenant') is an Israeli settlement movement formed by Gush Emunim in 1976. Its primary goal was "developing communities in Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights, the Galilee, the Negev and Gush Katif." The initial communities it developed were Ofra, Mevo Modi'in, Kedumim, and Ma'aleh Adumim. Settlements developed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are illegal under international law. Yigal Allon ( he, יגאל אלון; 10 October 1918 – 29 February 1980) was an Israeli politician, commander of the Palmach, and general in the Israel Defense Forces, IDF. He served as one of the leaders of Ahdut HaAvoda party and the Labor Party (Israel), Israeli Labor party, and briefly as acting Prime Minister of Israel in 1969 - the first native born prime minister. He was a Knesset member and government minister from the third Knesset to the Ninth Knesset, ninth inclusive. Allon died unexpectedly in 1980 after he suffered a cardiac arrest. Allon, born a child of pioneer settlers in the Lower Galilee, became a member of the Labor Movement and a resident of Kibbutz Ginosar in his teen years.
