Allianz Swans Gmunden
Basket Swans Gmunden is an Austrian professional basketball club that is based in Gmunden. Their home arena is Volksbank-Arena Gmunden. The club has won the Austrian Bundesliga five times; the last championship was in 2021. To add to that, the Swans have won six national Cups as well. The main sponsor of the team used to be Allianz for a long time. History The team was founded in 1965, as the basketball section of "Union Gmunden". The first match of Union was played in 1966, it was lost 11–35. After six years, the team eventually promoted all the way to the 2. Bundesliga. Gmunden played seven years in the league, than promoted to the 1. Bundesliga. The club had its golden years starting from 2003, since then the team started winning trophies in Austria. The Austrian Basketball Bundesliga (in German: Österreichische Basketball Bundesliga) was the top men's professional basketball league in Austria. Robert Arnold (born November 12, 1988) was an American professional basketball player for Crailsheim Merlins of Germany's Basketball Bundesliga. Personal life Arnold was born in Lancaster, California. He attended Lancaster High School and went on to graduate from Boise State University in Boise, ID. Upon graduation, Arnold went on to have a successful career playing for multiple elite European leagues. Career Arnold played two years for the Boise State Broncos and turned professional in 2011. After that he played two years for the Allianz Swans Gmunden, where he scored 15.5 points per game in his last season. After his stance in Austria, he left for Namika Lahti in the Finnish Korisliiga. Kęstutis Kemzūra (born 20 April 1970) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach of BC Wolves of the Lithuanian Basketball League. He is also an assistant coach for the Lithuanian national team. During his playing career, at a height of 1.91 m (6'3") tall, he played at the point guard position. De'Teri Mayes (born August 5, 1974) is a former Austrian-American professional basketball player. 2019–20 Austrian Basketball Superliga
The 2019–20 Austrian Basketball Superliga was the inaugural season of the Basketball Superliga, the newly established top tier league in Austrian basketball. It was the 74th season of the first tier of basketball in Austria. The Kapfenberg Bulls entered the season as the defending national champions winning the 2018–19 ÖBL season. The season was ended prematurely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Format Teams first play each other in the regular season home and away. After this, teams ranked 1–6 and 7-10 are divided in two groups to qualify for the playoffs.
