Alliance Of Pan American Round Tables
Alliance of Pan American Round Tables (also known as the ''Alizanza de Mesas Redondas Panamericanas'', 1916-) is a women's organization founded on October 16, 1916 in San Antonio, Texas by Florence Terry Griswold. With the motto "One for All and All for One," ("''Una Para Todas y Todas Para Una,")'' the first Round Table was created with the intention to build networks among the people of the western hemisphere and represent each republic within the Americas. PART began as a local organization, but in the 1920s chapters started to spring up across Texas. During this initial expansion, the parenting body was maintained in San Antonio. By 1944, international Round Tables had been established, and an Alliance, dubbed the Alliance of the Pan American Roundtables, was formed to unite the outreach of the various chapters. Round Table
The Round Table ( cy, y Ford Gron; kw, an Moos Krenn; br, an Daol Grenn; la, Mensa Rotunda) is King Arthur's famed table in the Arthurian legend, around which he and his knights congregate. As its name suggests, it has no head, implying that everyone who sits there has equal status, unlike conventional rectangular tables where participants order themselves according to rank. Emma Gutiérrez Suárez
Emma Catalina Encinas Aguayo (also known as Emma Gutiérrez Suárez and Emma G. Suarez (1909-1990) was the first Mexican woman to attain a pilot's license in her country. When she gave up flying, she became an interpreter and translator for several government offices and served the president Luis Echeverría and his family as their official translator. She also interpreted for the United Nations and served as the Director General of the Alliance of Pan American Round Tables for many years. She was the first honoree as Woman of the Year of the Pan American Alliance in 1967. Ángela Acuña Braun, also known as Ángela Acuña de Chacón, (2 October 1888 – 10 October 1983), a Costa Rican lawyer, women's rights pioneer and ambassador, was the first woman to graduate as a lawyer in Central America. Orphaned at the age of 12, she was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, attending elementary school and beginning high school in Costa Rica. She continued her education in France and England, gaining exposure to the ideas of women's rights. Returning to Costa Rica in 1912, she published articles in support of women's equality. She attended the boys' lyceum or high school where she passed the bachillerato, a prerequisite for entering law school. She embarked on law studies in 1913, leading to a bachelor's degree in 1916.
