Allez Allez
Allez Allez was a successful but short lived Belgian funk band founded in 1981 and disbanded in 1985. They subsequently reformed with a line-up change for several concerts in 2017. History On the verge of an international breakthrough in 1981, funky Belgian new wave band Marine lost their singer Marc Marine while in London to record a Peel session. Quickly replaced by Sarah Osborne of Repetition, they recorded the planned Peel session and changed their name to Allez Allez. The group had local hits with "She's Stirring Up", "Allez Allez" and "African Queen", the latter a tribute to Grace Jones. Their mini-album "African Queen" achieved gold status and earned them an appearance at the Torhout-Werchter festival in 1982. Les Snuls
was a group of Belgian comedians who were active from 1989 to 1993. They were known for their weekly television program shown on Canal+ Belgique, and various disks. Their humour was mostly inspired by self-mockery and nonsense, much like the British comedy troupe ''Monty Python'', and hijacking national symbols of Belgium and belgitudes (, , Maurice Béjart, Jacques Brel, Gilles de Binche etc.). Les Snuls were famous for their guest presenters, mostly old ladies who didn't know they were part of a spoof, also not knowing their lines or the topics of the show. Roméo Johnny Elvis Kiki Van Laeken (; born 13 December 1992), better known by his stage name Roméo Elvis (), is a Belgian rapper and hip hop artist. Heaven 17
Heaven 17 are an English new wave and synth-pop band that formed in Sheffield in 1980. The band were a trio for most of their career, composed of Martyn Ware (keyboards) and Ian Craig Marsh (keyboards) (both previously of the Human League), and Glenn Gregory (vocals, keyboards). Although most of the band's music was recorded in the 1980s, they have occasionally reformed to record and perform, playing their first ever live concerts in 1997. Rock Werchter is an annual music festival held in the village of Werchter, near Leuven, Belgium, since 1976 and is a large sized rock music festival. The 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2014 festivals received the Arthur award for ''best festival in the world'' at the International Live Music Conference (ILMC). It can host 88,000 guests daily, of which 67,500 combine all four days, to add up to a total maximum of 149,500 different attendees. The festival started in 1974 as a one-day event with performances from Banzai and Kandahar, but over the years it has evolved to become one of Belgium's largest music festivals. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century.
