Alles Leben Ist Kampf
''Alles Leben ist Kampf'' ( English translation: ''All Life is Struggle'') is a National Socialist propaganda film produced in 1937, directed by Herbert Gerdes, and W. Hüttig. This film is about disabled people and the Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring, passed to stop disabilities affecting other generations through forced sterilization. At the same time, it called for hereditary healthy Germans to reproduce so as to avoid the death of their people. It was one of six propagandistic movies produced by the NSDAP, the ''Reichsleitung'', '' Rassenpolitisches Amt'' or the Office of Racial Policy from 1935–1937 to demonize people in Germany diagnosed with mental illness and mental retardation. This movie is along the same lines as '' Erbkrank'' (1936) which was similarly directed by Herbert Gerdes. ''Erbkrank'' ( en, The Hereditary Defective, italic=yes, link=yes) is a 1936 Nazi propaganda film directed by Herbert Gerdes. ''Erbkrank'' was one of six propagandistic movies produced by the NS-Rasse und Politisches Amt (National Socialist Racial and Political Office), from 1935 to 1937 to demonize people in Germany diagnosed with mental illness and mental retardation. The goal was to gain public support for the T-4 Euthanasia Program then in preparation. This film, as the others, featured footage of patients in German psychiatric hospitals. Adolf Hitler reportedly liked the film so much that he encouraged the production of the full-length film '' Victims of the Past: The Sin against Blood and Race''. Sterilization ( also spelled sterilisation) is any of a number of medical methods of birth control that intentionally leaves a person unable to reproduce. Sterilization methods include both surgical and non-surgical, and exist for both males and females. Sterilization procedures are intended to be permanent; reversal is generally difficult or impossible. There are multiple ways of having sterilization done, but the two that are used most frequently are tubal ligation for women and vasectomy for men. There are many different ways tubal sterilization can be accomplished. It is extremely effective and in the United States surgical complications are low. With that being said, tubal sterilization is still a method that involves surgery, so there is still a danger. Nazi eugenics refers to the social policies of eugenics in Nazi Germany, composed of various pseudoscientific ideas about genetics. The racial ideology of Nazism placed the biological improvement of the German people by selective breeding of " Nordic" or " Aryan" traits at its center. These policies were used to justify the involuntary sterilization and mass-murder of those deemed "undesirable". (German, ) was a campaign of mass murder by involuntary euthanasia in Nazi Germany. The term was first used in post-war trials against doctors who had been involved in the killings. The name T4 is an abbreviation of 4, a street address of the Chancellery department set up in early 1940, in the Berlin borough of Tiergarten, which recruited and paid personnel associated with Aktion T4. Certain German physicians were authorised to select patients "deemed incurably sick, after most critical medical examination" and then administer to them a "mercy death" ().
