Allenwood, County Kildare
Allenwood () is a small Irish village in County Kildare situated on the Grand Canal. Allenwood is located about from Dublin and halfway between Rathangan and Clane in north County Kildare. According to the CSO, Allenwood had a total population of 981 inhabitants as of the 2016 census, an increase from 845 in the 2011 census. The main road through Allenwood is the R403 and the village is within of both the M4 (to the north) and M7 (to the south) motorways. Businesses in the area are centred on the crossroads, and consist of several shops, including a Spar, a costcutter, a barbers and a public house. There are two primary schools that were amalgamated into one in 2017, Allenwood G.N.S built in 1957 and Allenwood B.N.S built in 1929. The school is located next to the church which was built in 1954. There is also a business park at the location of the old power station. M4 Motorway (Ireland)
The N4 road is a national primary road in Ireland, running from Dublin to the northwest of Ireland and Sligo town. The M6 to Galway diverges from this route after Kinnegad, while the N5 to Westport diverges at Longford town. Most sections of the N4 that are motorway-standard are designated the M4 motorway. Road standard The N4 originates at an intersection with the M50 motorway at Junction 7. This is also Junction 1 of the N/M4. The Liffey Valley Shopping Centre is located at Junction 2. The road has three lanes and a bus lane in each direction between the M50 and the start of the M4 at Leixlip. The N4 was the only one of the main inter-urban national routes whose dual-carriageway section continued into the city centre; however, the section inside the M50 was re-classified as the R148 in 2012. John Doyle (Gaelic Footballer)
Johnny Doyle is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Allenwood and, formerly, at senior level for the Kildare county team. Playing career Doyle has won one Agricultural Colleges All-Ireland. His talents are very versatile and he has won an All-Ireland Cross Country Athletic College medal and won several boxing medals. Doyle also more recently has taken up a managerial role with the Maynooth Sigerson first team. Club Doyle plays his club football for Allenwood and was awarded Kildare Footballer of the Year in 2004 and 2005. He won the Kildare Senior Football Championship with Allenwood in 2004. Bord na Móna (; English: "The Peat Board"), is a semi-state company in Ireland, created in 1946 by the Turf Development Act 1946.
