Allan Sharpe
Allan Richard Sharpe (13 January 1949 – 5 June 2004) was a Scottish actor, theatre director and playwright who co-founded the Fifth Estate Theatre Company based at the Netherbow Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Early life Allan Sharpe was born in Falkirk and educated at Strathallan School in Perthshire, Scotland. He decided not to complete a degree course at the University of St Andrews, to work in the family timber business and pursue a moderately successful career in motor racing. Eventually, Sharpe completed his degree at the University of Edinburgh and trained to become an English teacher, teaching at several schools in Edinburgh. Whilst teaching he developed an interest in theatre and eventually left teaching to concentrate on writing and directing. Fifth Estate Theatre Company
The Fifth Estate Theatre Company was based at the Netherbow Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company was established by Allan Sharpe and Sandy Neilson, performing 26 productions between 1990 and 1996. Fifth Estate won several awards and received much popular and critical acclaim. The company toured many of their productions to theatres around the United Kingdom, including Hampstead Theatre, Perth Theatre, Dundee Repertory Theatre and the Tron Theatre in Glasgow. Tramway (arts Centre)
Tramway is a contemporary visual and performing arts venue located in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Based in a former tram depot in the Pollokshields area of the South Side, it consists of two performance spaces and two galleries, as well as offering facilities for community and artistic projects. The Hidden Gardens is situated behind Tramway. The new extension to Tramway is the home of the Scottish Ballet, and is claimed to be one of the leading venues of its type in Europe. History The Tramway occupies the former Coplawhill Glasgow Corporation Tramways depot. The original horse tram depot was constructed in 1894, and further workshops were added between 1899 and 1912. ''Monarch of the Glen'' is a British drama television series produced by Ecosse Films for BBC Scotland and broadcast on BBC One for seven series between February 2000 and October 2005 with 64 episodes in total. ''The Witch's Daughter'' is a children's novel by Nina Bawden, first published in 1966.
