Allan Henning
Allan Henning (born 1 June 1944) is a former professional golfer from South Africa. Henning was born into a golfing family. His brothers Harold, Brian, and Graham all became professional golfers. Henning turned professional in 1962 and won 18 tournaments on the South African Sunshine Tour between 1963 and 1980. His biggest win was the South African Open when it was played twice in 1963. Henning also had 4 playoff losses and 3 runner up positions in the South African Open. He also secured a big win at the South African Masters in 1968. Henning won the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit in two consecutive seasons, in 1974/75 and 1975/76. He represented SA in World Cup and World Series of Golf. Henning was also the first to score a record 61 at the Toro Classic played at Glendower GC in 1976. This is a list of the 1966 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The tournament was played over 144 holes at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in late October. The tournament represented the totality of the year's PGA Tour Qualifying School; there were no local or regional sections. Tournament summary There were 99 players in the tournament and 32 earned their tour cards. Harry Toscano was medalist with a 4-under-par 572. The professional Marty Bohen was well within the cut-off entering the final day. However, he played poorly and failed to graduate by one shot. "I was destroyed," Bohen said later in life. 1970 World Cup (men's Golf)
The 1970 World Cup took place 12–15 November at The Jockey Club in San Isidro 28 kilometers north of the center of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was the 18th World Cup event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 43 teams. 44 teams were invited, but the Czechoslovakia team of amateurs Jiri Dvorak and Jan Kunšta withdraw from the tournament before it began. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Australia team of Bruce Devlin and David Graham won, with a record aggregate of 544, by eight strokes over the Japan team of Takaaki Kono and Haruo Yasuda. Australia held a record advantage of 19 strokes going into the final round. This was the third victory for Australia in the history of the World Cup, until 1967 named the Canada Cup. Retief Goosen (born 3 February 1969) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He has won two U.S. Opens, in 2001 and 2004, headed the European Tour Order of Merit in 2001 and 2002, and was in the top ten of the world rankings for over 250 weeks between 2001 and 2007. The Nelson Mandela Invitational was a charity golf tournament which took place annually in South Africa from 2000 until 2006. It was named in honor of former South African President Nelson Mandela, and hosted by South Africa's most successful professional golfer Gary Player. Player and Mandela appeared at the event almost every year to accept proceeds on behalf of the Children's Fund and the Player Foundation who were equal beneficiaries.
