All Serbian Saints Serbian Orthodox Church ( Serbian: Храм сабора српских светитеља) is a Serbian Orthodox church located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is dedicated to all the Serbian saints. History The construction of the church began in February 1983 with the purchase of the property located in Applewood Heights which previous to that was a school property. The main architect of the project was the eminent architect from Belgrade Predrag Ristić. The foundation stone was blessed and laid by the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Pavle during his visit to Canada on June 14, 1994. The foundations of the new church were blessed by the Bishop of Canada Georgije (Đokić) on November 26, 1995. Serbo-Byzantine Architecture
The Serbo-Byzantine architectural style or Vardar architectural school (or "style"), is an ecclesiastical architectural style that flourished in the Serbian Late Middle Ages (ca. 1300–1389), during the reign of the Nemanjić dynasty. It was developed through fusing contemporary Byzantine architecture and the Raška architectural school to form a new style; by the mid-14th century the Serbian state had expanded to include southern Macedonia, Epirus and Thessaly up to the Aegean Sea. On these new territories Serbian art was even more influenced by the Byzantine art tradition. The architectural school was also promoted as a counter to the dominance of Western styles such as Neo-Baroque. Ignatije Midić (Serbian Cyrillic: Игнатије Мидић; born 17 October 1954) is a Serbian Orthodox bishop. He is professor of dogmatic theology at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Theology, and a well-known contemporary orthodox theologian in Serbia. His theological conceptions are mostly influenced by St. Maxim the Confessor and John Zizioulas. The basic teaching of the Church about person, he develops not only as a separate dogmatic or ecclesiological notion, but rather he puts it in the context of the whole theology. Longin Krčo
Longin Krčo (Serbian Cyrillic: Лонгин Крчо; born 29 September 1955) is a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church who became head of the Eparchy of New Gračanica and Midwestern America in October 1999. He is one of the longest-serving Serbian Orthodox bishops, and was the war-time Bishop of Dalmatia. Life Early life He was born on 29 September 1955 to father Stanoje and mother Anđa (née Jovanović). He completed his elementary school in Olovske Luke and he then completed the Three Holy Hierarchs theological school at the Krka monastery. Amfilohije ( sr-Cyrl, Амфилохије; , English: Amphilochius; born Risto Radović, 7 January 193830 October 2020) was a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, theologian, university professor, author and translator. He was first the bishop of Banat between 1985 and 1990, and then the metropolitan bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral from 1990, until his death. Jovan Pavlović ( sr-Cyrl, Јован Павловић; 22 October 1936 – 3 April 2014) was a Serbian Orthodox prelate who was the metropolitan bishop of Zagreb and Ljubljana of the Serbian Orthodox Church from 1982 until his death in 2014.
