All Saints Catholic High School, Kirkby
All Saints Catholic High School is a Knowsley based Roman Catholic secondary school educating pupils aged 11–18 years of age in the Kirkby area of Merseyside, England. The school also operates a sixth form. History All Saints CCfL opened on 11 January 2010, following the closure of the Bewley Drive site in December 2009. The Bewley Drive site closed because of Knowsley's Building schools for the future scheme. All Saints followed the other 10 Knowsley schools in creating 7 new "centres for learning". Former schools St Gregory's School on Bewley Drive in Southdene, Kirkby merged with St Kevin's School Northwood to form All Saints Catholic High School. St Gregory's School was the first girls' catholic comprehensive school in England, in Southdene. St Kevin's RC School had over 2000 boys, and was the largest comprehensive school in England. Voluntary Aided School
A voluntary aided school (VA school) is a state-funded school in England and Wales in which a foundation or trust (usually a religious organisation), contributes to building costs and has a substantial influence in the running of the school. Gold Blend Couple
The Gold Blend couple was a British television advertising campaign for Nescafé "Gold Blend" instant coffee, developed by McCann Erickson and which ran from 1987 to 1993. Background The original campaign ran for twelve 45-second instalments between 1987 and 1993. It starred Anthony Head and Sharon Maughan as Tony and Sharon, a couple who begin a slow-burning romance over a cup of the advertised coffee. The ads were in a serial format, with each ending with a cliffhanger. The commercials were extremely popular, and as time went on, the appearance of a new installment gained considerable media attention. They are one of the most famous examples of serialized advertising. Beginning in 1990, new versions of the ads were produced for the American market, where Gold Blend was called "Taster's Choice", and the ads were referred to as the "Taster's Choice saga". Scully (TV Series)
''Scully'' is a British television drama with some comedy elements set in Liverpool, England, that originated from a BBC ''Play For Today'' episode "Scully's New Year's Eve" (3 January 1978). Originally broadcast on Channel Four in 1984, the single series was spread over six half-hour episodes plus a one-hour final episode. It was written by playwright Alan Bleasdale. The drama is notable for featuring many of the Liverpool football club first-team squad of that era. The estate parts were filmed in Longsight, Manchester, on the 'Anson Road' Estate. Alan George Bleasdale (born 23 March 1946) is an English screenwriter, best known for social realist drama serials based on the lives of ordinary people. A former teacher, he has written for radio, stage and screen, and has also written novels. Bleasdale's plays typically represented a more realistic, contemporary depiction of life in Liverpool than was usually seen in the media. Early life Born in Liverpool, Bleasdale is an only child; his father worked in a food factory and his mother in a grocery shop. ''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. Phil Redmond
Sir Philip Redmond (born 10 June 1949) is an English television producer and screenwriter from Huyton, England. He is known for creating the television series ''Grange Hill'', ''Brookside'' and ''Hollyoaks''. Early life Redmond took the 11-plus and passed, but attended St Kevin's RC School in Northwood, Kirkby (it became All Saints Catholic High School, Kirkby). His mother was a cleaner and his father was a bus driver. He left school with four O-levels and one A-level and trained to become a quantity surveyor. Terence McDermott (born 8 December 1951) is an English former football midfielder who was a member of the Liverpool team of the 1970s and early 1980s, in which he won three European Cups and five First Division titles. He was capped 25 times for England, and has had an extensive coaching career with Newcastle United (twice), Huddersfield Town and more recently, as assistant manager of Birmingham City. John Conteh
John Anthony Conteh, (born 27 May 1951) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1971 to 1980. He held the WBC light-heavyweight title from 1974 to 1978, and regionally the European, British and Commonwealth titles between 1973 and 1974. As an amateur, he represented England and won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games. In 2017, Conteh was awarded an MBE for services to boxing at the Queen's Birthday Honours.
