E'voke
E'voke were a British female vocal duo from the mid-1990s, who had several club and chart hits in the UK and are best known for their 1996 single " Arms of Loren". The two members – Marlaine Gordon and Kerry Potter – both went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School and upon graduating went on to star in the BBC sitcom, ''Us Girls''. Gordon also went on to appear in ''EastEnders'' between 1994 and 1995 playing the part of Lydia. Career In 1994, they released their first single on the FFRR label, a dance cover version of Stevie Wonder's " I Believe". Although it was not a commercial hit, it did fairly well in the clubs and featured on Direct-Hit remix service. The track was produced by Barry Leng and Duncan Hannant who went on to write E'voke's original hits. In late 1995, they released the track " Runaway" on Frreedom Records which reached number 30 in the UK Singles Chart in November. "Arms Of Loren" is a single by the duo E'voke first released in 1996. The track has been re-released numerous times. 1996 release Following the chart success of " Runaway", E'voke recorded the track with producers Barry Leng and Duncan Hannant. The resulting track was signed to Manifesto Records, who commissioned a remix by Nip & Tuck which removed the vocal bridges and restructured the lyrics of the chorus. Radio edits of both the Nip & Tuck remix and the original version (entitled the Steinway Mix) were issued on promotional CDs with the Nip & Tuck version being the lead radio version (the Steinway radio edit went on to be unreleased on the commercial release). A video to a slightly edited version of the Nip & Tuck edit was released. "Runaway" is a song by British female duo E'voke, first released in 1995 as a single. Following the release of their cover of Stevie Wonder's "I Believe" in 1994, the duo recorded the track with producers Barry Leng and Duncan Hannant. The resulting track was signed to Ffreedom (a subsidiary of FFRR) and remixes were commissioned. One of the remixes was accredited to TTF and was similar in sound to TTF's remix of N-Trance's " Set You Free" which had been a major hit earlier in 1995. Jon Campbell of TTF denided that the remix was done by them. A black-and-white music video to a slightly edited version of the Biff & Memphis edit was released which was later released on iTunes in 2011. Upon release, the track reached number 30 in the UK Top 40 in November 1995, before falling to 49 the following week, then to 65. On the UK Dance, "Runaway" reached number three.
