All Brandy Stakes
The All Brandy Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in autumn, usually in November, at Laurel Park Racecourse in Laurel, Maryland. It is open to Filly, fillies and mares three years old and up and is raced on Grass, turf at a distance of 1-1/8 miles (9 furlongs). The race was named in honor of the Maryland-Bred Champion All Brandy, who was named Champion three-year-old filly in 1962. She was bred by John A. Manfuso Sr. the former owner of the Maryland Jockey Club. Manfuso rated her as the best racehorse he had bred in over 50 years in the business. Born in 1959, All Brandy was sired by Double Brandy and out of Alluring. She had career earnings of $85,943, winning the Barbara Fritchie Handicap, Mermaid Stakes, Monumental Stakes and Eastern Shore Stakes and placed in three other stakes races. Laurel Park Racecourse
Laurel Park, formerly Laurel Race Course, is an American thoroughbred racetrack located just outside Laurel, Maryland which opened in 1911. The track is miles in circumference. Its name was changed to "Laurel Race Course" for several decades until returning to the "Laurel Park" designation in 1994. History Laurel Park Racecourse opened October 2, 1911 under the direction of the Laurel Four County Fair. In 1914, New York businessmen and prominent horsemen, Philip J. Dwyer and James Butler purchased the track and appointed Matt Winn as the general manager. In 1918 the field was used by Army Engineers as a training camp before deployment to France. In 1946, a stable fire broke out with 60 horses saved. In 1947, the Maryland Jockey Club, which owned Timonium and Pimlico, purchased Laurel Park from the Butler estate with the idea of shifting the Pimlico meeting to Laurel. Edgar S. Prado (Lima, June 12, 1967) is a Peruvian-born American jockey, a U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey in thoroughbred horse racing. His big break came in 1997 when he won 536 races, making him the fourth rider in history to win 500 races in one year. Much of that success was gained in Maryland, where he ruled that circuit for several years. A resident of Hollywood, Florida in 2004 Prado became the 19th jockey in thoroughbred racing history to win 5,000 races. Robby Albarado
Robby J. Albarado (born September 11, 1973, in Lafayette, Louisiana) is an American Thoroughbred horse racing jockey. He began riding at the age of 10 and progressed to riding at bush tracks in his native Louisiana by the age of 12. After turning professional, he earned his first official win at Evangeline Downs in 1990. Since then, he has won more than 5,000 races, but his career has endured setbacks as a result of serious injuries. During 1998 and 1999, he suffered two skull fractures, one of which required doctors to replace a damaged portion of his skull with titanium mesh and polymer plate. Another serious accident in the fall of 2000 kept him out of racing for the better part of 2001. Ryan Fogelsonger (born May 26, 1981 in Portsmouth, Virginia) is an American Eclipse Award, Champion jockey in the sport of Thoroughbred horse racing. Based in Maryland, Fogelsonger began riding in 2002 but was late getting started, earning his first win on May 1 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. He immediately became a consistent winner and on September 18 he rode five winners on a ten-race card at Pimlico Race Course then won five races there again on the October 2nd racecard.
