All American Stakes
The All American Stakes is a Listed United States, American Thoroughbred horse race, race for race horse, horses three-years-old and older over a distance of one mile on the grass, turf at Golden Gate Fields, Berkeley, California. It currently offers a purse of $100,000. History The event was inaugurated in 1968 on dirt at a distance of six furlongs as the All American Handicap. After the racetrack installed a turf course in 1972 the event was moved to the grass over a distance of 5 furlongs and stayed that way until 1978. In 1997 the event revert to the dirt. The event was held at the defunct Bay Meadows Racetrack between 2001 and 2005 and was renamed during that period as the Seabiscuit Handicap and Seabiscuit Breeders' Cup Handicap. In 2006 the race was returned to Golden Gate Fields and in 2007 the synthetic All Weather track called Tapeta Footings, Tapeta was installed at the track. Golden Gate Fields
Golden Gate Fields is an American horse racing track straddling both Albany, California and Berkeley, California along the shoreline of the San Francisco Bay adjacent to the Eastshore Freeway in the San Francisco Bay Area. With the closing of the Bay Meadows racetrack on May 11, 2008, it became the only major Thoroughbred racetrack in Northern California. It is currently owned by The Stronach Group. The track is set on of land in the cities of Albany and Berkeley. Golden Gate Fields' facilities currently include a one-mile (1,609 m) synthetic track and a turf course measuring 9/10 of a mile, or 7 furlongs plus 132 feet (1,448 m), stalls for 1,420 horses, a main grandstand with seating for about 8,000 customers, a clubhouse with seating for about 5,200 customers, a Turf Club with seating for about 1,500 customers and parking for over 8,500 cars.
