''All About Hash'' is a 1940 ''Our Gang'' short comedy film directed by Edward Cahn. It was the 189th ''Our Gang'' short (190th episode, 101st talking short, 102nd talking episode, and 21st MGM produced episode) that was released. Plot It seems that Mickey is upset over the fact that his parents spend every Monday night arguing. The reason: Mickey's mother invariably serves hash made from the Sunday-dinner leftovers, and Mickey's father hates hash. To teach the two adults a lesson, the Our Gang kids stage a skit on a local radio program, ending with a heartfelt plea by Mickey to stop the quarrelling. Edward Cahn (director)
Edward L. Cahn (February 12, 1899 – August 25, 1963) was an American film director. Early life and education Cahn was born in Brooklyn, New York. He went to work at Universal Pictures in 1917 while still a student at UCLA. Career He is best known for directing ''Our Gang'' comedies from 1939 to 1943, and a long line of other short subjects and B-movies afterward. He is also known for directing the 1958 film ''It! The Terror from Beyond Space'', the film that inspired the 1979 film ''Alien''. Harold Switzer
Harold Frederick Switzer (January 16, 1925 – April 14, 1967) was an American child actor, most notable for appearing in the ''Our Gang'' short subjects series as an extra. He was the older brother of gang member Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer, one of the series' most popular and best-remembered characters. Early life and family Switzer was born in Paris, Illinois, the first son of George Frederick and Gladys C. Shanks Switzer. He and younger brother, Carl, became famous around their hometown for their musical talent and performances; both sang and played a number of instruments. Ferris Taylor
Robert Ferris Taylor (March 25, 1888 – March 7, 1961) was an American film actor and vaudeville performer. Biography Taylor owned a vaudeville company, the Taylor Players. Besides his acting, Taylor sometimes sang in vaudeville programs. A 1922 newspaper article noted, "he possesses a deep baritone-basso voice". The group included his brother, Glen H. Taylor, who later became a U.S. senator from Idaho. In 1930, Taylor went to Hollywood, gaining a few appearances in films in bit parts and as an extra. He eventually appeared in more than 120 films between 1933 and 1958. He also made guest appearances on ''The Cisco Kid'' starring Duncan Renaldo and Leo Carillo in the early 1950s. Peggy Shannon
Peggy Shannon (born Winona Sammon; January 10, 1907 – May 11, 1941) was an American actress. She appeared on the stage and screen of the 1920s and 1930s. Shannon began her career as a Ziegfeld girl in 1923 before moving on to Broadway productions. She was signed to Paramount Pictures and groomed to replace Clara Bow as the newest "It girl", whom she replaced in the 1931 film, '' The Secret Call''. Her growing dependency on alcohol eventually derailed her career. She appeared in her final film ''Triple Justice'' in 1940. In May 1941, Shannon died at the age of 34 from a heart attack, brought on by alcoholism. Her husband Albert G. Roberts shot himself three weeks after her death.
