All About Eve (album)
''All About Eve'' is the self-titled debut album of All About Eve. Commercially, this was their most successful, reaching No. 7 in the UK charts and spawning four Top 40 singles (one of which went top 10). Most of the album was produced by Paul Samwell-Smith. Release Some of the earlier cassette versions of the album had the album title ''Flowers in Our Hair'' printed on both sides of the tape, instead of ''All About Eve''. Although drummer Mark Price was a full-time member of the band when this album was completed, he was not present for all of its recording. Some songs feature Mick Brown, on loan from The Mission, one features session drummer Greg Brimstone, and one features a drum machine. The album spent 29 weeks in the UK top 100 album charts, and is certified Gold with in excess of 100,000 units being sold. All About Eve (band)
All About Eve was an English rock band. The initial creative core consisted of Coventry-born Julianne Regan (vocals), Huddersfield-born Tim Bricheno (guitar) and Andy Cousin (bass guitar), with other members changing over the years. Their highest-charting UK single was "Martha's Harbour" (1988). The band was active from 1984 to 1993, then 1999 to 2004, achieving four UK Top-50 albums. The band had been recognised for their "unique, folk-rock-influenced take" on the gothic rock style, and Regan has been described as "certainly one of the more talented singers" of the scene in the late 1980s. Julianne Regan
Julie-Ann "Julianne" Regan (born 30 June 1962) is an English-Irish singer, songwriter, and musician. She achieved success in the late 1980s and early 1990s as the lead singer of the band All About Eve. AllMusic describes Regan as "certainly one of the more talented singers of the late eighties British goth rock scene". Early life (1962–1981) At the age of 15, Julianne Regan was given a Woolworths electric guitar by a cousin and taught herself to play. Peter-John Vettese
Peter-John Vettese (born 15 August 1956 in Scotland), also known as Peter Vettese, is a Scottish keyboardist, songwriter, arranger and record producer. Vettese is perhaps best known for being the keyboardist for progressive rock band Jethro Tull for most of the 1980s. Early life Peter Vettese grew up in a musical family in Brechin, Angus, Scotland. He began his music studies with piano lessons at the age of 4. At 9, he began playing in public with his father's band. He left home at 17 to join one of the UK's biggest dance hall Big Bands, but was fired for rehearsing in company time with his own group. He then formed the jazz fusion group Solaris with guitarist Jim Condie, and toured Scotland and the US. Richard Sanders (born 8 December 1952) is an English violinist who has played in jazz-rock, folk rock, British folk rock and folk groups, including Soft Machine and Fairport Convention. Biography Sanders' first experience with a professional band was in the summer of 1972, touring Europe with classical/rock percussionist Stomu Yamash'ta's Red Buddha Theatre. He later went on to play with jazz pianists Johnny Patrick and Michael Garrick. In the late 1970s, he briefly toured as a member of the jazz-rock group Soft Machine and followed with a stint in The Albion Band. Simon Hinkler
Simon Thomas Hinkler (born 13 November 1959) is an English guitarist, keyboard player, songwriter and producer from Sheffield, most notable for being the lead guitarist for the British rock group The Mission from 1986 to 1990. Early musical career Hinkler formed his first band, TV Product, while working at Killis cleaners, Sheffield in 1978. The other members of the group were his housemate Tony Perrin and three friends from the polytechnic. After many line-up changes Hinkler left the band to join Artery on keyboards. He was part of the line-up which recorded the group's most well known songs, including "Into the Garden", which reached number four on John Peel's festive 50 for 1981. This incarnation of the group started to disintegrate around this time, and Hinkler spent much of the next year mentoring the young Jarvis Cocker. Bias Boshell
Tobias Boshell (born 20 July 1950) is an English songwriter and musician, best known as the founder of the folk rock band Trees. He was born in Wye, Kent, was educated at Bedales and the Royal College of Music. Boshell formed Trees in 1969 with Celia Humphris on vocals, Barry Clarke on lead guitar, Unwin Brown on drums/vocals, and David Costa on acoustic guitar & dulcimer. Bias sang and played bass, guitar and piano on their two CBS albums, ''The Garden of Jane Delawney'' (1970) and '' On the Shore'' (1971), and wrote much of their material. ''On the Shore'' was remastered in January 2007 and re released on CD. After the original group broke up in the early 1970s, Boshell worked with Kiki Dee, writing her hit songs "I've Got the Music in Me" and "First Thing in the Morning," among others. Andy Cousin
Andrew Cousin (born 28 June 1963 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire) is an English bassist and radio presenter from Huddersfield in England. He is principally known for being the bassist of All About Eve: he has also played for The Mission. Since 2016 he presents the Andy Cousin show on Deal Radio. Before All About Eve (pre-1985) In the early 1980s Cousin played bass in Huddersfield for goth band Aemotti Crii, along with friend Tim Bricheno. Cousin remained with Aemotti Crii until they split up (circa 1984) and then moved down London for a very brief spell with a synthpop band called Pink and Black, appearing on one of their record covers despite not having played on any of the tracks. Tim Bricheno (born Timothy John Bricheno, 6 July 1963, Huddersfield, Yorkshire) is an English guitarist, songwriter and music teacher. He was a member of several notable English indie bands, including All About Eve, The Sisters of Mercy, XC-NN (originally "CNN" until the band ran into legal problems with America's Cable News Network) and Tin Star. He has also played as a tour guest and recorded with The Mission. Bricheno has written music under several pseudonyms for other recording artists including Dusty Springfield and Gene Pitney. Trees was a British folk rock band recording and touring throughout 1969, 1970 and 1971, reforming briefly to continue performing throughout 1972.
