Columbus Crew
The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. The Haslam/Edwards group is the third ownership group in club history. The franchise was founded in 1994. Its stadium is Lower.com Field, opened in 2021. From 1999 to 2021, the Crew played home games at Historic Crew Stadium (formerly Mapfre Stadium and Columbus Crew Stadium), the first soccer-specific stadium built for an MLS team, with a seating capacity of 19,968 as of the 2015 season. Maximilian Arfsten
Maximilian Michael Arfsten (born April 19, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a wingback for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Early years Youth Arfsten attended San Joaquin Memorial High School. In 2016, he posted 21 goals, 11 assists and earned all-league first team honors. He ended his junior season with All-CMAC first team recognition and league MVP honors by posting 20 goals and 21 assists. Adam Bedell (born December 1, 1991) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward. Career Early career Born in Livonia, Michigan, Bedell played high school soccer at Winston Churchill High School and club soccer with the Michigan Crew Soccer Academy Wolves before attending the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), where he played for the Detroit Titans. Bedell played in a purely defensive role at center back during his freshman and sophomore years at UDM before transitioning to a more attacking role at center midfield/forward for his junior and senior years. Shane Battelle (born October 5, 1971) is a retired American soccer player who played with the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer. College After capping off his senior year at Hazelwood Central High School with a state championship, Missouri Player of the Year honors and being named a Parade Magazine All-American, Battalle spent one season (1990) playing soccer at Southern Methodist University. He was named to the Soccer America Magazine Freshman All-American Team as one of the best 11 freshman in the entire country that year. José Artur de Lima Junior (born 11 March 1996), commonly known simply as Artur, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo as a midfielder. Corey Alan Ashe (born March 14, 1986) is a retired American soccer player. He played 10 seasons in Major League Soccer, mostly with the Houston Dynamo, but also with Orlando City SC and Columbus Crew SC. Originally a wide midfielder, Ashe moved to left back in 2011 and established himself as one of the best left backs in MLS, being named an MLS All-Star in 2011 and 2013.
