Alistar Jordan
Alistar Bruce Jordan (born 5 September 1949) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Central Districts from 1969 to 1980. A right-arm opening bowler, Jordan's best figures in first-class cricket were 7 for 82 against Otago in 1972–73. He was a member of the New Zealand team that briefly toured Australia in 1972–73. Inglewood, New Zealand
Inglewood is a town in the Taranaki Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is southeast of New Plymouth on New Zealand State Highway 3, State Highway 3, close to Mount Taranaki, and sits above sea level. The town services a mainly dairy farming region. History The settlement was founded in 1873 and was originally called Moatown. The name was then changed to Milton, before ultimately being renamed to Inglewood in 1875 to avoid confusion with Milton, New Zealand, Milton in the South Island. The railway reached Inglewood in 1877, connecting it with New Plymouth as part of the first extension of what is now the Marton–New Plymouth line. Hawke Cup
The Hawke Cup is a non-first-class cricket competition for New Zealand's district associations. Apart from 1910–11, 1912–13 and 2000–01 the competition has always been on a challenge basis. To win the Hawke Cup, the challengers must beat the holders, either outright or on the first innings in a drawn match, on the holders' home ground. Teams from New Zealand's four main centres, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, have not usually competed for the Hawke Cup, although they did participate in the latter half of the 1990s. They were excluded again from the 2000–01 season. From 2000 to 2010 the team from Hamilton, New Zealand's fourth-largest urban area, was the most successful. Taranaki cricket team represents the Taranaki Region of New Zealand. It competes in the Hawke Cup. Taranaki as a representative team played as early as 1877. First-class matches Between 1883 and 1898 Taranaki played eight matches that are now considered first-class. They won one match, lost six and drew one. 1882–83 * At Auckland Domain in March 1883, Auckland 241 defeated Taranaki 63 and 55 by an innings and 123 runs. Otago Cricket Team
The Otago cricket team, nicknamed the Volts since the 1997–98 season, are a New Zealand first-class cricket team which first played representative cricket in 1864. The team represents the Otago, Southland and North Otago regions of New Zealand's South Island. Their main governing board is the Otago Cricket Association which is one of six major associations that make up New Zealand Cricket. The team plays most of its home games at the University Oval in Dunedin, but occasionally plays games at the Events Centre in Queenstown, Queen's Park Ground in Invercargill and Molyneux Park in Alexandra. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs.
