Alistair Donohoe
Alistair Donohoe (born 3 March 1995) is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for Australian club team Blackburn CC. Following a right arm impairment in 2009, Donohoe became a multiple medallist at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships and UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships. He won two silver medals at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and a silver and bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. He has been selected for the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Personal Donohoe was born on 3 March 1995 in Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory. In 2009, at the age of fourteen, he injured his right bicep/triceps as a result of his arm getting caught in a rope whilst trying to jump into a creek from a tree. This led to limited use in his right arm. He attended Xavier College. He lives in Brisbane, Australia. Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory
Nhulunbuy () is a township that is the Northern Territory#Cities and towns, sixth largest population centre in the Northern Territory of Australia. Nhulunbuy was created on the Gove Peninsula in north-east Arnhem Land when a bauxite mine and a deep water port were established in the late 1960s, followed by an alumina refinery. The alumina refinery closed in May 2014, and Nhulunbuy was reduced by 700 to 3,240 by the time of the 2016 Australian census. The median age in the town was 32 in the 2016 census. The 2015 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships were the World Championships for road cycling for athletes with a physical disability. The Championships took place on the roads of Nottwil in Switzerland from 29 July to 2 August 2015. C5 (classification)
C5 is a para-cycling classification. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) recommends this be coded as MC5 or WC5. Definition PBS defined this classification as "Cyclists with least impairment, including single amputation and minimal neurological disfunction." Classification history Cycling first became a Paralympic sport at the 1988 Summer Paralympics. In September 2006, governance for para-cycling passed from the International Paralympic Committee's International Cycling Committee to UCI at a meeting in Switzerland. Para-cycling classification is the process of classifying participants in para-cycling covering four functional disability types. The classification system includes classes for handcycles for people who have lower limb mobility issues. The sport is governed by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Michael Thomas Gallagher, Order of Australia, OAM (born 14 December 1978) is an Australian Paralympic cyclist from Scotland. He has won gold medals at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, Beijing and 2012 Summer Paralympics, 2012 London Paralympics. He was selected in the Australian team for the 2016 Summer Paralympics, 2016 Rio Paralympics.
