Alincourt () is a commune in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region of northern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Alincourtois'' or ''Alincourtoises'' Geography Alincourt is located some 15 km south of Rethel and 25 km north-east of Rheims. It can be accessed on the D925 road from Neuflize in the west passing through the heart of the commune and the village and continuing east to Juniville. The D985 road from Perthes in the north also passes through the north-west of the commune and continues to join the D925 west of Juniville. The commune consists entirely of farmland other than a strip of forest along the banks of the river. The ''Retourne'' river flows through the commune from east to west passing just south of the village and continuing west until it joins the Aisne at Neufchatel-sur-Aisne. Aussonce () is a commune in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. Geography Aussonce is located some 30 km north-east of Reims and 25 km south of Rethel. The western border of the commune is the departmental border between Ardennes and Marne. Access to the commune is by the D25 road from La Neuville-en-Tourne-à-Fuy in the east which passes through the village then continues west to Heutrégiville, changing to the D33 at the border. The D985 from La Neuville-en-Tourne-à-Fuy to Pontfaverger-Moronvilliers passes through the south-east of the commune. The D15 goes north-west from the village to Ménil-Lépinois. Aisne (river)
The Aisne ( , , ) is a river in northeastern France. It is a left tributary of the Oise. It gave its name to the French department of Aisne. It was known in the Roman period as Axona. The river rises in the forest of Argonne, at Rembercourt-Sommaisne, near Sainte-Menehould. It flows north and then west before joining the Oise near Compiègne. The Aisne is long. Its main tributaries are the Vesle, the Aire and the Suippe. The Battle of the Axona was fought near there between the Romans and the Belgae in 57 BC.
