Petrovaradin02
Petrovaradin ( sr-cyr, Петроварадин, ) is a historic town in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, now a part of the city of Novi Sad. As of 2011, the urban area has 14,810 inhabitants. Lying on the right bank of the Danube, across from the main part of Novi Sad, it is built around the Petrovaradin Fortress, historical anchor of the modern city. Name Petrovaradin was founded by the Celts, but its original name is unknown. During Roman Empire, Roman administration it was known as ''Cusum''. After the Romans conquered the region from the Celtic tribe of Scordisci, they built the Cusum fortress where present Petrovaradin Fortress now stands. In addition, the town received its name from the Byzantine Empire, Byzantines, who called it ''Petrikon or Petrikov (Πετρικον)'' and who presumably named it after Saint Peter. Avijatičarsko Naselje ( sr, Авијатичарско Насеље), also known as Avijacija ( sr, Авијација), is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Borders The south-eastern border of Avijatičarsko Naselje is Ulica Oblačića Rada (Oblačića Rada Street), the north-eastern border is Rumenački put (Rumenka Road), and the western border is a future new section of Subotički bulevar (Subotica Boulevard), which will be built in 2007. Satelit ( sr, Сателит) is a small urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. In English it translates as “Satellite”. It is part of the larger Bistrica urban area and neighborhood. Bistrica ( sr-Cyrl, Бистрица), also known as Novo Naselje ( sr-Cyrl, Ново Насеље), is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Bistrica (including Satelit) is one of the most populated urban areas of the city. Names The old name of the settlement was ''Novo Naselje'', but it was officially changed to ''Bistrica'' in 1992. However, most of the inhabitants of the settlement still prefer to use the old name. In Hungarian language, Hungarian the place is known as ''Újtelep''. Satelit neighborhood would get its name due to the launch of the Sputnik 1 satellite in 1957, starting the space era craze, as well the neighborhood being located far from the majority of the city (as a satellite to the city). Telep
Telep ( sr-cyr, Телеп) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Name The word "telep" ( hu, Telep) means "settlement" in Hungarian. The first name of this neighborhood was ''Darányi-telep'' (Serbian: ''Daranjijevo Naselje''). Between 1927 and 1944, the official name of the settlement was ''Adamovićevo Naselje'' (this name was in fact used for both: present-day Telep and present-day Adamovićevo Naselje, which are today two separate city neighborhoods). History In the medieval period (13th-16th century), a settlement named Sent Marton (Kűszentmárton) existed at this location. Modern settlement of Telep started to develop during the 1890s. Initially, settlement existed only in the area of present-day northern Telep, while southern Telep started to develop in 1902. Adamovićevo Naselje ( sr, Адамовићево Насеље) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Borders The northern border of Adamovićevo Naselje is Futoška ulica (Futoška Street), the eastern borders are Ulica Vojvode Knićanina (Vojvoda Knićanin Street) and Ulica Kola srpskih sestara (Kolo srpskih sestara Street), the southern border is Bulevar cara Lazara (Boulevard of tzar Lazar), and the western border is Bulevar Evrope (Boulevard of Europe). In other words, Adamovićevo Naselje is located between Liman 4 in the south, Grbavica in the east, Telep in the west, and Sajmište with Provincial hospital in the north.
