Ali Olanusi
Ali Olanusi (born 28 February 1942) is a Nigerian politician, he was deputy governor of Ondo State, Nigeria from February 2009 till his impeachment in April 2015. Early life Ali Olanusi was born in Supare Akoko, a town in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, southwestern Nigeria. He attended Ansarudeen College, Ikare where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate. On completion of his secondary education, he was employed as a teacher at modern school in Ogbagi, Ondo State but left the school to join the services of Lagos State Ministry of Transport. Although he had no degree certificate, according to him “My greatest regret in life is that I am not a graduate. It is the fact that I did not have a degree certificate from any university within or outside Nigeria. However, I don’t have inferiority complex”. Deputy Governor Of Ondo State
The deputy governor of Ondo State is the second-highest officer in the executive branch of the government of Ondo State, Nigeria, after the governor of Ondo State, and ranks first in line of succession. The deputy governor is directly elected together with the governor to a four-year term of office. Olayide Adelami is the current deputy governor, having assumed office on 1 February 2024. Ondo State House Of Assembly
The Ondo State House of Assembly is the legislative branch of the Ondo State Government inaugurated on February 3, 1979. The assembly is unicameral with 26 representatives elected from each constituencies of the 18 local government area of the state. In 2011, the assembly consists of two political parties, LP and the PDP but the assembly was dominated by the Labour party with a total number of 25 representative and the PDP with only one representative. In October 2015, all members of the assembly defected to the PDP following the defection of Olusegun Mimiko, the governor of the state who was re-elected on May 29, 2011 following the April 11, 2011 election. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully. In 2015, the APC won the majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, though it fell shy of winning a super-majority to override the ability of PDP to block legislation.
