Ali Merdan
Ali Merdan (1904–1981) ( ku, عهلی مهردان) was an Iraqi musician of Kurdish descent who was born in Kirkuk, widely regarded as the man who revolutionized the Arabic maqam, maqam. He launched the Kurdish Radio Station in 1939 in Baghdad. Childhood At the age of six, Ali's father died therefore many responsibilities fell on his shoulder like supporting his family and at the same time to finish his studies. Career During his half a century career, according to relatives and close friends, he sang more than 1000 songs, but not all of them have been recorded due to a lack of recording equipment in his early days. Ali merdan was the inspirational artist and inspired the golden generation of Kurdish Singers such as Muhamad Salih Dilan, Mamle, Hesen Zirek, Tahir Tofiq and Ahmad Shamal Death On July 24, 1981, Ali Merdan died at the age of 77. Kirkuk
Kirkuk ( ar, كركوك, ku, کەرکووک, translit=Kerkûk, , tr, Kerkük) is a city in Iraq, serving as the capital of the Kirkuk Governorate, located north of Baghdad. The city is home to a diverse population of Turkmens, Arabs, Kurds, and Assyrians. Kirkuk sits on the ruins of the original Kirkuk Citadel which sits near the Khasa River. Kirkuk was proclaimed the "capital of Iraqi culture" in 2010. It is claimed by the Kurdistan Regional Government as its capital. Kirkuk is also considered by Iraqi Turkmens to be their cultural and historical capital. The government of Iraq states that Kirkuk represents a small version of Iraq due to its diverse population, and that the city is a model for coexistence in the country. The music of Iraq or Iraqi music, ( ar, موسيقى عراقية), also known as the music of Mesopotamia, encompasses the music of a number of ethnic groups and musical genres. Ethnically, it includes Mesopotamian Arabic, Assyrian, Kurdish and the music of Turkmen, among others. Muhammad Mamle ( fa, محمد ماملی , ku, Mihemedî Mamlê, 1925 – 23 January 1999) was a Kurdish musician and singer. He renewed hundreds of Kurdish folkloric songs. Muhamad Salih Dilan
Dilan (in Kurdish: محهممهد ساڵح دیلان) is regarded as one of the most influential Kurdish Poets and one of the greatest Arabic maqam, maqam singers of his time. He was one of the few early poets that brought a revolution in Kurdish literature, Kurdish poetry and literature in the 20th century. Biography Dilan was born in Goizha, a neighborhood in Slemani. His family's origins were from Qala Chuwalan, along with the Kurdish Principality of Baban, they settled in Sulaimaniyah in 1784. His father, Ahmed Dilan was a poetry enthusiast and a Arabic maqam, maqam specialist, apart from Kurdish he was fluent in Persian and Arabic, he played a key role in his son's love for poetry and maqam.
