The song was written by the singer and arranged by Juan Carlos Calderón. The B-side, "Sin Remedio", was also written by Sesto and arranged by Johnny Arthey. Camilo Blanes Cortés (16 September 1946 – 8 September 2019), known professionally as Camilo Sesto "El Rey del Amor", was a Spanish singer, songwriter and music producer. There are various sales figures for him, ranging from 70 to 200 million records sold, and the singer himself claimed to have sold more than 175 million records. However, his official sales would represent around than 2.8 million copies worldwide, including nearly 900,000 certified. Biographical summary Sesto sang in two pop bands during the 1960s and won a contest in a Madrid television show. He played a part in the Spanish filming of Shakespeare's ''Hamlet''. Later, he teamed up with singer and producer Juan Pardo, but success would come on its own accord, with his own music works. Juan Carlos Calderón
Juan Carlos Calderón López de Arróyabe (7 July 1938 – 25 November 2012) was a Spanish singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Santander, he was the author of "Eres tú", which, performed by Mocedades, came second in the Eurovision Song Contest 1973. It was an important hit in several countries, including the United States. He wrote another three Eurovision entries: " Tú volverás" by Sergio y Estíbaliz in 1975, "La fiesta terminó" by Paloma San Basilio in 1985, and " Nacida para amar" by Nina in 1989; as well as an entry for the OTI Festival: "Amor de medianoche", which ended up runner-up in 1975 performed by Cecilia. He also wrote music for several movies, including the horror films '' Vengeance of the Zombies'' (1973) and ''Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll'' (1974). In 1968 he won an Ondas Award. OTI Festival 1973
The OTI Festival 1973 was the second edition of the annual OTI Festival. It was held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, following the country's victory at the 1972 contest with the song "Dialogo" by Claudia Regina and Tobías. Organised by the Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI) and host broadcaster Rede Tupi, the contest was held at the Palácio das Artes on Saturday 10 November 1973 and was hosted by Walter Forster and Íris Lettieri. With the debut of México, this time 14 countries participated in the event, one more compared to the first edition in which Mexico had been disqualified. It was precisely the Mexican entrant Imelda Miller with the song "Qué alegre va María" the one who won the festival. OTI Festival ( es, Festival OTI de la Canción, pt, Festival OTI da Canção), often known simply as La OTI, was an international song competition, organised annually between 1972 and 2000 by the Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI) (English: Iberoamerican Television Organisation), featuring participants representing primarily Ibero-American countries. Each participating OTI member broadcaster submitted an original song in Spanish or Portuguese to be performed on live television and transmitted to all OTI broadcasters via satellite.
