Alfréd Radok Awards
The Alfréd Radok Awards (''Ceny Alfréda Radoka'') were presented annually by the Endowment for the Alfréd Radok Awards in collaboration with the theatre and literary agency Aura-Pont and the magazine ''Svět a Divadlo'' (The World and Theatre) for achievements in Czech theatre, starting in 1992. The category of Best Performance was the first created. In 1995, the categories Best Play, Best Stage Design, Talent of the Year, Theatre of the Year, Best Actor, and Best Actress were created. The winners were selected by vote by theatre critics. 2013 was the last year the award ceremony was held. It was followed in 2014 by the ''Ceny divadelní kritiky'' (Theater Critics Awards), awarded by ''Svět a Divadlo'' for staging categories, and ''Anonymní dramatická soutěž agentury Aura-Pont'' (Anonymous drama competition of Aura-Pont agency). Alfréd Radok
Alfréd Radok (17 December 1914 in – 22 April 1976) was a distinguished Czech stage director and film director. Radok's work belongs with the top Czech stage direction of the 20th century. He is often cited as a ''formalist'' in his work. Biography Radok was born in Koloděje nad Lužnicí. His father Viktor Radok was Jewish and his mother Olga, née Toushková, was catholic. He got baptized just before the World War II started in 1939. Radok planned to study journalism and theatre in Prague, but after German occupation all universities were closed down by the Nazis. He then started his own amateur theatre company called Mladá scéna with his brother Emil in Valašské Meziříčí. In 1940 Radok was hired by the theatre of E. F. Burian, D34, in Prague and worked there until Burian's arrest in 1941, when the theatre was closed. Emília Vášáryová, Doctor Artis Dramaticae (hon.) (; born 18 May 1942) is a Slovak stage and screen actress, referred to as the "First Lady of Slovak Theater". Ivana Hloužková
Ivana Hloužková (; 6 June 19606 March 2023) was a Czech actress and two-time Alfréd Radok Award winner. She was a member of the in Brno from 1981. Hloužková won her first Alfréd Radok Award for Best Actress in 1995 for her portrayal of the title role in the play ''Maryša'' at the Goose on a String Theatre in Brno. In 2012 she was again named Best Actress at the same award ceremony for her role of ''Miroslav Tichý'' in the play ''Tichý Tarzan'', again at the Goose on a String Theatre. ''The Seagull'' ( rus, Ча́йка, r=Cháyka, links=no) is a play by Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov, written in 1895 and first produced in 1896. ''The Seagull'' is generally considered to be the first of his four major plays. It dramatises the romantic and artistic conflicts between four characters: the famous middlebrow story writer Boris Trigorin, the ingenue Nina, the fading actress Irina Arkadina, and her son the symbolist playwright Konstantin Treplev. Barbora Hrzánová (born 22 April 1964) is a Czech actress and musician. She won the Alfréd Radok Award for Best Actress in 1994 for her role in the play ''The Seagull'' at the Theatre on the Balustrade in Prague.
