Alfred Neumann (architect)
Alfred Neumann (January 26, 1900–1968) was an Austrian-born Israeli architect known for his modernist buildings. Biography Alfred Neumann was born in Vienna to Siegmund Neumann and Hermina Hickl. In 1910, Neumann's family moved to Brünn (today's Brno, Czech Republic), for his father's job at a joinery workshop. Neumann attended the German Building Technical College. Following his graduation, Neumann served in the Austro-Hungarian Army during World War I. After the war, he returned to his architecture studies, enrolling at the German Technical University in Brno. In 1922, Neumann returned to Vienna, where he attended Architecture College (Meisterschule für Architektur) of the Arts Academy in Vienna, studying under Peter Behrens. For the following 6 years, he worked at a number of architecture offices in Paris and Berlin with contemporaries including Auguste Perret. Alfred Neumann (East Germany)
Alfred "Ali" Neumann (15 December 1909 – 8 January 2001) was an East German politician. He was a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, and for a short time, he was East German Minister of Materials Management. Life Neumann was born in Berlin-Schöneberg and completed training as a joiner. In 1919, he joined the worker's sport club "Fichte" (" Fir" or "Spruce"), which in 1928 became a member of the "Fighting Community for Red Sport Unity" (''"Kampfgemeinschaft für Rote Sporteinheit"''; KG). Neumann became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) in 1929, and in 1930, a member of the KG state leadership. Second World War In 1933-1934 he worked together with Karl Maron illegally – for Hitler had come to power by now – for the KG. Alfred Neumann (15 October 1895 – 3 October 1952) was a German writer of novels, stories, poems, plays, and films, as well as a translator into German. Biography Neumann was born in Lautenburg, Germany (now Poland). He was a recipient of the Kleist Prize in 1926 and his writings were banned during the Third Reich. His novel ''Der Patriot'' was turned into a play and filmed in 1928, directed by Ernst Lubitsch. The film was remade in France in 1938 directed by Maurice Tourneur. He was working in Italy when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933. The Nazi party seized all his property due to his Jewish heritage. He remained in Italy until 1938 when he moved to France. The French film '' La Tragédie impériale'' (1938), were based on his novel. He moved to Los Angeles in 1941 and became a US citizen, where he stayed until 1949. The University of Houston–Clear Lake (UHCL) is a public university in Pasadena and Houston, Texas, with branch campuses in Pearland and Texas Medical Center.
